Had so much hopes for the Ubuntu Edge to be funded but that bombed. I have no idea why Mark Shuttleworth of Canonical hasn't talked to ASUS to implement Ubuntu Touch in their PadFone line - seems like a great fit. Tested Ubuntu Touch on my Galaxy Nexus until Canonical stopped supporting it on the GNex. So I guess we'll see.

I think you missed some thing. Or potentially every thing. You may want to research convergence. It's a lot more than printing. In fact, it has nothing whatsoever to do with printing.

Ubuntu is very capable in this matter as all you have to do is add printer and it will automatically detect any connected printer - local or on the network - and Ubuntu will install the driver quickly - usually in about a minute.
Yesterday, I had a new install of Xubuntu on a PC and someone wanted something printed. I clicked on "add printer" and in about a minute, the network printer driver for the Ricoh Aficio was ready for printing.
This does not cover 100% of printers but experience has shown it works 90% of the time or more.

Yes, it is exciting - the first steps for Ubuntu mobile with a promise for the future of convergence.
I believe this can be done with Ubuntu. It is already well-developed on the desktop and with its many flavours from very light versions (e.g. Xubuntu and Lubuntu) to the heavier, eye-candy flavoured versions (Unity, Kubuntu) to the other many versions with specific functionality (Kodibuntu as a media center, Edubuntu, Gendbuntu for the French National Police, Goobuntu used by Google, just to name a few), many organizations and even national governments stand to benefit from this inclusion on all their mobile devices.
They will be able to bring their work, projects, etc. with them on the go.
Yes, it is a very tantalizing option - convergence, not only on the mid and high end phones but even on the lower ones to provide the computing capabilities needed for cash-strapped organizations - whether national or local - to work and move ahead.

Can't wait to see what they come up with.
Looks like Canonical is 6-9 months away from having 1.0 of convergence. They have basic window management working, external monitors close and their core apps working on the desktop.
I'm hoping that this phone will feature external monitor support pretty soon after launch (s/b Oct, 2015).

wish them all the best!!
Their business model is too generous as we say "there nothing called a free lunch". if they could be a bit more encouraging to the developers who are not just working out of their enthusiasm but could make a buck or a two then this could be a real contender ;)

with a possibility to launch android apps and windows apps,
using it like desktop(many setting,files,apps,games support) it wouldnt have rival right now

ubuntu is not there in markets mostly.....
launching new ubuntu appln in mob makes differnce in andriod mob phones.. wish u good luck for lauching this appln in mob phone..
