Microsoft project Pink phones gets official pictures, mystery remains

24 September, 2009
Project Pink are in fact a bunch of secret new phones, that are currently being developed in the Microsoft labs, away from curious eyes. However as it often happens, the labs aren't as leak-free as the people...

On the aesthetics' aspect, imo Pure wields the winning hand while Turtle are well...like its namesake...I think it seriously needs a rethink like maybe holding off the curved keys' cheesy element, take Palm Pixi's no BS alignment/layout and probably do a slightly squared overall dimensions' off the Pre.Hard for me to think of any other orig ideas to throw in but then again MS is new to the game.

And then some, that is after they weeded out the industrial design kinks there's also the critically important internal hardware specs & features if they're planning to seriously challenge the likes of Samsung,Nokia and/or HTC etc.

Above all else, project Pink has to really really underscore the OS ambitions.WinMo 7?Looking at that as a brand, people out there are still baffled on why MS separately track the desktop counterpart to its mobile sibling the way it is for years now.Something that they shouldn't have done with Win 7 by now,but too late they already did. When you scatter your developmental resources that way,you simply lose the important focus hence endangering the scope of success.

It'll be interesting to see if or should MS decide to tackle this particular subject aggressively and effectively.

I dunno, but I'm kind of liking how they look like, they look really small but the screen's big enough, and it looks like there's no physical keys for navigation so I guess they'll have touch screen, plus there's the physical keyboard which is very important (well for people like me who's into texting and is used to the physical keyboard). hope the'll hit the market soon...

We can't judge now, let's wait and see. But in my opinion, if Microsoft does not want to make its softwares and hardwares by its own, the Microsoft company will never be able to deliver to us excellent quality products, they still have plenty and plenty of problems with Windows..

They look... cheap to say the least! The turtle looks like a stripped-down, low-end version of the Pre...

Microsoft is approaching the market incorrectly if it's focusing on these offerings rather than honestly facing up to the fact that it seriously needs to transform windows mobile and not just through some cosmetic overlays and add ons. There has been some discussion as whether the company will continue with this operating system by 2012. But if it wishes to remain windows mobile must make a massive jump forward in terms of user experience and efficiency when running on mobiles. We wait with interest and hope. Their desktop software is practical and flexible. Why can't they apply the same to mobiles? The clock is ticking.

ROFL - leaks? No, these are teasers. Same two tantelizing yet not too revealing shots for each phone.

Anonymous, 24 Sep 2009disgusting. and to think i was excited about zunephone. yuckah, come on; the Pure looks like a lot of handsets coming out. it's hardly 'disgusting'!

i think it'll be interesting to see what M$ come up with. considering they've been a provider of OSes and hardware peripherals for so long, it's taken them a long time to take a crack at a phone.
