Goodbye Sony, not I think you have really cooked your goose.

If you were worried about phone sales, well that announcement just put your head under water. Good luck in the future, you have always been useless with updates for TV's Phones... and now you are just showing the world again that you just don't give a stuff about your users.

It wouldn't even surprise me if Sony cry's an put's it's head in the sand and doesn't release any more firmware after the initial release. The Z3 which I have now has just been left hanging, there are no stock based custom ROM's, and to be honest all the other Z series were not fantastic either.

I have owned 4 Sony phones, now back to HTC with my next phone, now they have fixed there ridiculous hardware blunders.

I always prefer everyone not to buy sony xperia smartphones because they'll damage the device later after buying. Cheap tricks cheap sony.

Actually kitkat sucks due to its sd card restrictions i hate that os. Having low phone memory it becomes terrible to receive any movies or larger files more than 1 gb.. If kitkat doesn't have sd card restrictions I had never asked for lollipop update. Also it doesn't support apps to work with sd card which is necessary. Don't want to root and risk my phone.
Also lollipop has better ram and task management which also saves battery. Sony keep your lollipop in your mouth can you provide an update to remove sd card restrictions?????

the main logical question here is when are they going to release the update. its been quite a while since they had promised to release it. grrrr!

Samy, 08 Mar 2015Are you sure of the examples you're giving? Motorola are no... moreDon't worry. Lolipop sucks. Especially on the S5. It's clearly NOT designed with AMOled equipped devices in mind. Then there's that ugly new look. If all I wanted was ugly monotone icon-sets then I would have fired up any computer from the mid-eighties.

And as far as "features" go. The trivial ones are still not common like device INDEPENDENT call-recording (without messing with your device) or true themes. Amazing that my Nokia has themes that fully change everything from menus to UI to most o/t apps while on android all we have are "launchers"!?! WTF... after all those years STILL NO proper Themes? WTF have these devs been doing? Eye soaring white panels and ugly flat monotone icons on ridiculous high resolution screens... is that it? And the other features have been implemented by the various brand-optimizations in kitkat (like power-save mode). So why would I jump up for an OS that doesn't suit my AMOled screen, has no real benefit because of my 32-bit cpu and hasn't got anything more feature-wise than what I already have?

Most of the devices remaining on kitkat isn't necessarily a bad thing. Trust me.
