1080p will be my choice as I know that it's a mobile phone, not a tv.
Plus 1080p is way more than enough at 5 inches, people who ask for more are obsessed with high numbers and don't understand that there won't be any difference. They don't have the mind necessary to realise it's only marketing since you can't see the extra 500 pixels.

    mindless masses mate..

What is this obsession with increasing screen resolution on FREAKIN UNDER 6 INCH SCREEN. Like are you serious? I remember screens of laptops used to be 1280x720 or even lower at 10", bumping screen resolution only DECREASES performance, I have a Z3 compact and the only reason I chose this one over a 5" Z3 is that I know 1080p would only decrase gaming performance. ugh. Imagine adreno 430 at 720p, silky smooth 60 fps.

What is up with phone manufactures obsessed with increasing scren resolution, ugh, leave it at 1080p, 1440p only decreases 3D performance, I wish we could pick screen resoltuion size, 720p is more than enough even for 6", we used to have 720p on 32 INCHES TV's.

In the case of AMOLED (Which is what the discussion is based on) They don't light up any pixels that are black. AMOLED selectively lights up, or doesn't light up pixels based on the color they are supposed to be.
LCD tends to give dark grays when it wants to show black because of the Illumination.

Meladyx, 20 Mar 2015DisplayMate isn't a benchmark system. It subjectively rates... moreThis issue is a bit more complex than this and it involves color theory elements. In nature (and nature should always be our reference, as our eyes are... part of it) pure black is any object which manages to avoid absorbing light. The lesser the amount of light in the object, the purer the black. In the case of LCD vs OLED we encounter this issue:

LCD - is based on the idea that blacks should remain "as such", that is you get to see a pixel as black in the absence of the light.
OLED - it creates "deeper" blacks by (and this is the paradox few understand!) illuminating it.

Now, how do you illuminate black? You oversaturate it. You fill the pixel with all the colors available as much as possible, hoping that your eye will be mislead by the this oversaturation. And it is. The downside is that the image does not look natural anymore.

                    How you test it:

                    1. Avoid skin tones - I'm a graphic designer and I often laugh when browsing online and seeing how illiterate most people are when it comes to these aspects. Skin tones contain black in such small proportions that it takes years of experience to detect the natural version from an unbalanced image. Actually, it's even worse (take the blue dress that went viral a few weeks ago.)
                    2. Check the blacks on images from nature which contain a BIG dark area (a grotto, for instance). Most of you guys will be able, if you're honest, to notice in that particular context how artificial OLED screens are.

The disadvantage in the case of LCDs is that there will never be a background substance black enough to support absolute black. Yet, they manage to produce much more natural colors once blacks remain unlit.

So, please Meladyx, next time you use the word "subjective" review your assumptions and... read a bit more on the topic you're dealing with.

The Super AMOLED is actually simply a better panel with the advancements that have ben made on it. Your opinion doesn't change that.

Yes the seals are more vulnerable to sea salt and pool water but doesnt make it impossible. Dropping it into pool water won't instantly destroy it. Maybe long term yes. It slowly eats away then seals. On another note. Many phones use sony camera's due to their prestine quality, image sensors, iso, and clear images, this is unconfirmed but i do recall a Samsung model to have sony camera's i think it was s5, and i have never seen a picture quality, day and night, of a mobile phone like my friend's z3. Not to mention. You're quite mean to the man you replied to. Whether right or wrong. Intelligence or retarded, one should always be courteous.
