Logic says that, if you haver more performance for the same power, then you get the same performance for less power. More efficient. Get it?

Im so tired of all these BIG.shittle SoCs, Samsung had to trim off everything on TouchWiz and still it lag like crazy due to the A53s running the show while the bigger ones sit idling. And what happen if the big cores are allowed to do some of the work? 3rd degree burns within 20 seconds, thats what.

pipo, 19 Mar 2015A launcher is not enough. That only (partially) changes one... moreOld Sony Ericsson you could change every little detail anywhere in the UI, font, font size, colors, textures everything, maybe even button placement, as long as you could VKP patch it or replace the graphic files.

"AMD is no longer in the phone/tablet GPU game – it sold its department to Qualcomm"
That happened Several years ago, it has absolutely nothing to do with the present.
AMD have not pulled out of the Tablet market, they will release more competitive products in 2016.

"AMD is no longer in the phone/tablet GPU game – it sold its department to Qualcomm, which renamed its products Adreno. "
It was the second of the most imbecile movements of AMD.
First one was being too late catching for Intel Atom class processors.
Still they have no equal, not even a processor close to Atom.
It was too late and Amd is busy with reincarnating R9 series which was hype-zombie version of HD7xxx series.
That is the problem actually with AMD, if something works and still sells no need to develop something new.
But Intel working and trying frkn so hard to find out brand new things.
That is why 4 years before no one would belive you if you say
"Someday we'll use atom processors on our phones, may be in watches."
People could thing you are a moron but now that dream became alive and working.
Why Amd is so lazy...
Intel is not anymore his concurrent, its Samsung but very soon MediaTek can take place of Samsung against Amd.
This movement will bring Amd to that way if they dont wake up.
Which scares me like a nightmare...
I'm writing that comment from an AMD pc with AMD Radeon gpu.

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2015A crappy gpu is actually a very strategic move. A good gpu ... moreNice rationalization, but it's pure fiction. If a good mobile GPU were so worthless, than all Android SoC manufacturers and Apple would not have come to the consensus that they have, which is evidently that strong GPUs are very desirable. Mobile gaming is only going to continue to develop, as is the general UI. Don't forget that the GPU actually has an important role in rendering the GUI. Also realize that GPU computing is going to become more important in the coming years as well, so GPUs will only get more important.

Force Majeure, 19 Mar 2015Yeah a lot of these new UIs doesn't do it for me, at all. P... moreA launcher is not enough. That only (partially) changes one part. There's more work needed to make the notification area, dialer, messages and other apps completely AMOLed friendly for instance. I think Samsung with their themes might be on the good track. I think others with themes that go deep into the UI are also usable provided you can create these themes yourself (or the manufacturer provide a "theme creator").
Things is that "in the old days" all these higher-end feature-phones from Sony and Nokia had themes that changed practically everything. Symbian has themes that changes everything, menus, notification area, settings, icons etc. THAT is what I want.
Not to mention that its disappointing that we had this years ago but that ALL these new "smart-"phones have lost this and other capabilities.

tweeteri, 19 Mar 2015I like Mediatek apart from their crappy ISP, DAC and GPU.A crappy gpu is actually a very strategic move. A good gpu is basically useless for anything other than 3d gaming and 3d gaming on mobile is cr@p so by doing away of such a useless part they beef up the cpu (the only thing that matters along with memory bandwidth). So you have mid range Mediateks shaming high end offerings of other brands. Hope the cooperation of theirs with AMD won't put an end to crappy gpus, it's actually an edge rather than a downside.
