It not Sony don't want to use 3.5mm port , it because there are still slot of fast port connector left in their warehouse. Maybe it will be finish by 2011, then they will change to 3.5mm. So sony fan have bear with it for the few upcoming models. Take their memory stick as an example. U guys get what I mean? They surely lose slot of potential buyer becuse of fastport but dun worry as they are still make money from those people like buy a FASTPORT headphone/earphone.. Haha. And it overprice too.

hoga, 08 Oct 20093.5mm jack is bad, I prefer the fast port, so I can use SE ... more"3.5mm jack is bad, I prefer the fast port, so I can use SE wired Headphones with caller ID, I know there is bluetooth with caller ID, but for longer battery life and 15hrs nonstop music on my ears. I prefer fastport"

Correct me if I'm wrong, at least over 15 years ago in the days of portable CD/MiniDisc players, Panasonic already incorporated a wired remote (with LCD display) into a 3.5mm plug (with extra metal contact) in its devices.

Are you suggesting after 15+ years, Sony depends on the fast port technology to simply display the caller ID? Or certain company is simply being greedy by using its own proprietary products / accessories....forcing its customers to only purchase those parts / accessories only from the company, and noone else?

Don't get me wrong, I used to be a Sony fan and used practically nothing but Sony products. (CD/MD/TV/hi-fi/cordless phone etc...) Ever since the days of memory stick (which was rather unstable at the initial launch), I switched to all other brands....except my car stereo is still Sony. (surprisingly my hi-fi still works)

When everybody is using SD/micro SD cards, Sony insists on using memory sticks. When everybody is using 3.5mm jack, Sony still makes its customers to use fast port...

Maybe you're a music enthusiaist. I listen to music a lot (used to be walkmans/discmans, nowadays my phones...and surprisingly I skipped all MP3 players) I found myself being quite a careless person which most of my earphones only last about a year.

So would it be cheaper to replace something more "standard" like earphones with 3.5mm jack? Or would it cost less to replace something proprietary like fast port / pop-port?

Or else, for those who really like music, chances are they would use other brand's earphones like Shure, which I think only comes in 3.5mm jack.

It's like squealing greedy little piglets in here.

If you wont buy a pretty Dam good phone because you have to use an adaptor for headphones you need a life. It has a use anyway-taking calls- So go cry about niggly little ridiculous gripes elsewhere you spoilt children.

                                      Never satisfied are you?
