Anonymous, 02 Apr 2015Maybe this will help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operati... morehave you gone through the kernel part of the explanation you will see the difference there.
The point is an OS requires a kernel.

This is what I like about Motorola. They are making much better smartphone than any other manufacture at much lower cost. No bloatware on their device. More importantly they remember their customers. They are not like Samsung, HTC or Sony who only give OS update to a few of their top tier phone where as Motorola give update to most of their device. Even Moto E(1st gen) got lollipop update faster than Galaxy Note.

Samsung,HTC or Sony etc. think like "yeah I sold that device, I got my profit, why would I do extra work for it? It won't give me extra money"

But Motorola think about both themselves and us by giving continuous update.

AnonD-375671, 02 Apr 2015kernel links hardware to OS....it is different from OS Maybe this will help:
                          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_system
There is no kernel entity in there. The kernel is part of the OS.

You'd think in this day and age looking up a simple definition is not something you'd need help with.

For a GPE device, the manufacturer only runs some validation tests.

PS With all due respect, "no modification to OS. Only kernel code changes!!!" is one of the most retarded things I have ever read. From a purely logical standpoint, if the kernel in not part of the OS, what is?
