AnonD-77464, 08 Apr 2015The thing is. This phone bends in that pressure. Fine, but... moreOK when it's about samsung, everything's perfect...

    Please reread the item:
the Galaxy S6 edge was subjected to a good 110lbf or _149Nm_, cracking and becoming _unusable_.

And the reminder about the iPhone : The iPhone 6, the one that started the whole bend craze, died at 179lbf (_243Nm_)

The thing is. This phone bends in that pressure.
Fine, but it gets back to it's form without any damage. That (not getting back to normal) was the problem with the first bendgate issue.

Scooter, 07 Apr 2015"waah, waah, you're bending it wrong." Just shut ... moreWould you clarify, what hit exactly!

Apple iPhone 6 was weak near volume buttons, The test that was performed to dismiss iPhone 6 bending didn't even test that.

Now we get squaregate that suggest S6 edge does bend under this amount of pressure, yet it doesn't actually show it.

Also if you pay attention to this test performed applying significantly higher pressure that this phone is exposed to could not bend the phone.

AnonD-126854, 07 Apr 2015You are clear example how well the apples propaganda works.... moreYour exactly right my friend, a good example is flipboard who look like apple own it. They mentioned the bend thing as a story, then posted the story on every page near a news story about the s6. But as for the benchmark nonsense, car is
governed for normal use , and its
governor is automatically released at the track circuit to compete, its just normal fare. You see apple only sell a public perception not a phone, they don't mind android having more than half the market , if its split up between little faction companies, it makes them look good because the competion is lots and....it can't compete. However come samsung and the media created hype bubble starts to 'POP' , the headline samsung sell more than apple cannot be allowed to circulate at any cost, because the reason to buy an iphone just ceased to exist ie.people are now just as comfortable be seen with another brand of phone visa v apple are not uniquely desirable any more, and they're not. Now can you smell that dung, hard to work out if that's the stuff they're trying to heap on samsung to attempt to stop the s6 selling or....if that's the stuff coming out of apple, because it is.mmmm better leave that one to the wise, o shouldn't there be some kantary /comyscory/screeny/camy story thingyz coming out around now telling the public how next century the obsolescent iphone is.

Anonymous, 07 Apr 2015Pathetic. Must be particularly bitter a pill to swallow too... moreExcept there was many purposefully twisted variables in the other tests. And it's also twisting the results from the only recently put out videos showing it's champion durability in drop tests.
The initial video was either made entirely on accident by very low brain powered fools or purposefully twisted and manipulating time to fool people.

Pathetic. Must be particularly bitter a pill to swallow too, given how much they enjoyed it when Apple faced scrutiny. Whatever fallout they get from this is of their own making.

Don't dish it if you can't take it Samsung.

this news makes me laugh!, surely they say that samsung galaxy s6 survives the bend test, because this phone is a new flagship, this is also part of marketing strategy, that's why they promote it, so if theres a new flagship release they will also say that the new release survive the bend test, so they will ignore the previous flagship and will focus the new one.

Just because MOST, not ALL, OEMs did it does not make it right. Benchmarks are supposed to provide a baseline for real world performance. If you're going to change the performance only under special circumstances, then bring it out into the open instead of trying to hide it.

You're just like the Apple sheep you ridicule. The only difference is that you worship Samsung.

And everyone was laughing , because not 110 pounds but only half of that pressed on specific points could bend permanently their phone. Even kids were doing it. And it bends in the front pocket with much less pressure.
This kind test was debunked back then, but why the media now love it, when was used to attack Samsung ???? And got amnesia ...LOL

Couple of months ago whole industry was laughing at Apple & Apple was in defending position with their own tests. Now, when the tables have turned, it's nice that Apple is calming watching Samung defending themselves instead of crying out loud just like Samsung, HTC & others did in the recent past.

You missed to say in your article , that Samsung was asking Square Trade to make same test on 80 pounds with iPhone 6 Plus and to show the result(if the iPhone 6 Plus bends, and coming back in the original shape)
                              P.S.

It was the Anand/anandthech/ the Apple's employee , who wrote this BS about "Samsung's benchmark cheating". Then all the apple's tech media spread it. Later the same Anand, after feeling the heat, wrote another article where he said that ALL THE OEMs that was in his test do THE SAME "cheating". But ppl still speak about Samsung only. Right?
So that is the same trick like this BS now:
1.The Apple's propaganda throw some sh..ts over Samsung
2.The menial media spread the "news" everyware
3.When the truth come the media take the sh..ts back with some half-excuses.
                                4. Both , the Apple's propaganda and their tech media know that some smell will stay on Samsung anyway.
5.Repeat same action again and again ...and...voila:)

That is, if you perform the same test in another lab, the results should be the same. The output is also comparable (i.e. you can look up 3 point bend tests for other materials or products and do a direct comparison). Samsung's test is a slight variation. However, that variation means that the number needs to be adjusted before you can compare it to a bend test of a block of aluminum done in a university in Canada (for example).
