Me too, even if Nokia phones are plasticky in build i can't help but like their products. But LGproducts are good looking and stylish.

Samsung phones are all same looking especially the budget types.

After 13 years (yes, 13 !!) I've switched from high end Sony-Ericsson phones (formerly Ericsson phones) I switched to high-end LG phone (Renoir). I'm afraid I'll never switch back.

Way to go, LG. Good luck.

rising or going down, you won't see these guys hungry. it must be cool at the end of the year to draw the line and say: "we made 10 billion dollars profit this year... let's go shoping"

Anonymous, 21 Oct 2009No big deal with LG's 11% of market share despite launching... moreAgreed totally.

I think samsung are doing quite well recently...they are bombarding the market with new phones. Combine this with new models from the king Nokia who too are came up with a bunch of touchscreen smartfones. True that there is lack of products from SE and Motorola, but the competition from samsung and nokia cannot be ignored. Under these circumstances if LG has earned 37% more profits, then it really deserves an applaud.

LG has been the true innovators in the industry coming out with two finger touch UI (Prada I), lowest cost touch screen phone with Cookie, the first social networking QWERTY device with KS360, first 3G watch phone, etc.. LG really deserves the success.
I can't say the same for Samsung where they achieved #2 position by copying every other mobile manufacturer and buying market share by giving huge rebates to retailers and operators.

No big deal with LG's 11% of market share despite launching so many phone models. LG and Samsung are just benefiting from the decline and lack of product launches from SE and Motorola. Motorola depended on only the model RAZR to make a dent on Nokia's market share in 2004 achieving over 22% world market share, pushing Nokia down to 32%. It is only natural that demand for LG and Samsung phones will be higher in the absence of the other 2 major brands, coupled with Apple's exclusivity of the iPhone to specific carriers only is making consumers go for their touch-screen phones.

When the rest of the competition has bucked up, I doubt LG and Samsung can keep up with this momentum for long.
