the screen is AMOLED and is scratch resistive. pretty sweet.

given the earlier video, i would say the screen is a capacitive, given how the user is not using the nail of his finger...
either that, or its one of the softest touch resistives i have seen!

800 Mhz ARM11 is not as fast as 768 Mhz Snapdragon :P

the 800Mhz arm11 cpu is almost as fast as a 600Mhz cortex A-8. Just a tad slower. snapdragon is qualcomms implementation of the cortex A-8, so the 768Mhz snapdragon is much faster than an 800Mhz arm11 cpu.

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2009Yes, they're both single core, but the difference is massiv... moreTo be honest, I bought the Omnia II partly because of it's 800Mhz clock speed. I was pissed off when I found out it's a ARM11 chip >.<
My kingdom for a Cortex A8!

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2009I understand but Snapdragon and Spica processor are both s... moreYes, they're both single core, but the difference is massive, it's like Pentium 1 to Pentium 4. (I chose this comparison because it might be a bit more clear than my previous one, considering they're both single cores now)
Really, we're talking about, just like I said in my previous comment, a 200 to 300% performance gain compared to ARMv6 (ARM11(76), which is in this handset).
Besides, the Liquid has a far more powerful GPU as well.
(4M Triangles/Second from the GPU of the S3C6410 in the Spica vs. 22M Triangles/Second from the GPU of the Snapdragon in the Liquid.

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2009I understand but Snapdragon and Spica processor are both s... moreIt's not about cores, since both are single-core at this point. It's about being more efficient processing wise. Think of the Snapdragon as being a more efficient worker.
For an explanation of the architectural improvements, check out this article on the iPhone 3GS's CPU (which is Cortex A8, same architecture as the Snapdragon) over at Anandtech:

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2009I need to point out that the 800Mhz processor Samsung uses ... moreI understand but Snapdragon and Spica processor are both single core so the difference in performance should not that big. On the other hand I think that Snapdragon can support more advanced functionality and maybe it can be overclocked to 1Ghz (I am just speculating).

ok, it is fast but are this CPUs really comparable just by MHz? as it is different implementation of ARM architecture it should have different performance. just like x86 cpus P3, P4, Core, athlon XP/64 all can work with 1500 mhz clock but their performance is not equal. does anyone have benchmarks which show real performance of diffrent ARM cpus?
I hope you understand my english :)
cheers
