Windows Mobile 6.5.1 screenshots appear, look more like it

23 October, 2009
The Windows Mobile 6.5 has been around for less than a month now but Microsoft are already busy preparing an update for it. Good for them as so far nobody is overly excited about their iterative OS upgrade...

too bad, that its unlikely for buyers of WinMob 6.5(.0) to get an update to 6.5.1 for free... there are phones out there, that is suffering due to shortcomings in 6.5... look at toshiba, acer, and the soon to be released SE X2. None of these phones comes with a sophisticated front end UI, that lets you control the phone with just fingers (HTCs and Samsungs, however does).
With this update all these phones would drasticly improve in fingerfriendlyness.

this is something I would update to.. would have upt to 6.5 months ago but yea, didn't seem like much... I have seem ROMs, vids, and people using & developing on this version for months now aswell.. I thought this is what 6.5 would be.. was dissapointed wen I seen "official" 6.5.. No worries as 6.5.1 has allso been out for alongtime.. best thing bout winmo, if unofficial is allways releaced lo before official updates.. may be bugs etc but More user customized and really were never out of tha loop, or behind any OS.. with out WINMO, there wouldn't be Smartphones!

Yeah it was pretty obvious ever since we saw it early this year on the Diamond 2, strong Zune influence. Now if they would just replace the awful Windows Media Player with what's in Zune...

can someone say sony ericsson mixed with iphone? liking what i see! just hope the user friendly part is really there! biggest disapointment with windows mobile on my samsung epix was poor website viewing, updating was diffcult, and themes looked horrible often times couldn't even read home screen.

I am prety sure Wm 6.5.1 will never get offcialy released. It is just a test platform form compatibility issues of Wm 7. Couse Wm6.5.1 has the same small row on top and big on down, as Wm 7 has, instead of using evenly big ones in Wm 6.5 and previous. Couse i do see some small graphic glicher with 6.5.1 when i open full screen aps, than don't know hot to hendle the new rows.

I've been running 6.5.1 a few weeks now, yes it's real and so much better than 6.5 ... 6.5.1 will become public pretty soon.

A nice tweak no doubt, but almost not worth the ROM update with WinMo 7 looming. Be interesting to know if stability has improved. Been a WinMo user for a while now and while I love the power and flexibility it has, it's a complete pain doing a weekly reset (or daily in some cases!)

It was about time!. Sorry guys but, for me, Microsoft is a dead company, no matter what they'r doing. It's a true ride straight to hell =)

Well some of us are smart enough that we don't need offcial ROM's to use never operating system. Using WM 6.5.1. for some days now. But this step by step upgrading is silly. Just get out with WM 7 beta, so i install it on my xperia!

And for those who already had WM 6.5 devices, it's either sacking out another hundreds dollar for new device or asking for pity from the OEM to release the OS update ?

yea this is a good idea from Microsoft, slowy turn 6.5 into the 7 that leaked

cause a major overhaul could cause unwanted side effects

but any work on WinMo is good news
