AnonD-183154, 27 Apr 2015Standard ARM design are crap. Just look at how far Apple is... moreApple isn't ahead of them in CPU power. The leap frogging is in full effect.
Apple do employee better GPU though which has nothing to do with article.

with coming phones- 50Mpxs and real manual control, I hope samsung will do something about that 16mp sony sensors they use. I love details in 38Mpix. That leaves me in between to choose a phone.

Standard ARM design are crap. Just look at how far Apple is from Qualcomm or Mediatek who have to relie on standard design.

Benchmark, 27 Apr 2015The 45% number is complete speculative it seems, do you hav... more"speculative"? no, it is a laboratory test result obviously. if the performance increase will be this large in real life usage, this remains to be seen.

Why isn't the standard ARM design already optimal leaving no room for improvement using custom cores? Is ARM on purpose leaving such room for improvement to customers to exploit to allow customers to get ahead of competitors?
In the other camp - is the design of Intels cpus already optimal since no custom cores exist? Probably not. Or perhaps Intel doesn't want custom cores and has the means to disallow them.

If it's only 45% faster than A57, then it should lagg behind Cortex A72. It'll be funny seeing Mediatek with A72 beating Samsung with their Mangoose.

It's nice that this will be faster than Cortex A57, but by this time next year ARM (and other) will have moved on to the newer Cortex A72, leaving Samsung with a fast chip that uses a superseded design. It's going to be a little awkward.

Michael, 27 Apr 2015Yeah all made of Sony, they say its fast but for me SD810 i... moreSD810 overheating issues aren't something minor... Even in the rare situations it's not overheating, the performance is just a small increment over SD801.
No need to keep the "in my opinion" charade for something so clear as performance, just try it yourself and see the real numbers match your (not so great) experience!
I don't know if it's 45% (probably it's not), but these Exynos are definitely faster than the SD810.
