AnonD-4697, 05 May 2015For real, do you think actaully Microsoft is worry about th... moreActually, it's not all that rosy...

-The Nokia mobile purchase will be written off (likely fully) so they just wasted about 7 billion dollar on thin air. What's left is costly factories and non-selling phones
-They only took a license on all the important patents. The only patents they bought concerned the designs of the Lumia devices. It will cost them money to keep making phones, license money.
-They may receive money from licensing patents they own, yet that's not the amount Microsoft would love to get, by far. It remains to be seen how long they will keep that income as well.
-They have control over the PC-market, for now. First of all, it's a shrinking market, second it loses all of it's main strongholds as important. Consoles turn more and more PC-like, Valve will release the Steam-machine, Apple still gains ground in the pc-market. Also, Chromebooks took over quite a big chunk of the PC-market. Another field where Microsoft only lost.
-Microsoft Office has been losing ground year after year. The only way to keep people using it has been by offering it completely for free (timelimited or completely, pending on the situation). People are moving away from the vendor lock-in that Microsoft Office was. It hurts Microsoft badly.
-Right now they have the second best selling console indeed. Last generation they were last of the 3 big tv-based consoles. This time, they barely beat Nintendo, who failed to enthuse people with the Wii U, only doing so after massive pricecuts, dropping mandatory Kinect and trailing back on everything they promised Xbone would be.

All in all, it's not all rosy for Microsoft at all right now. Only time will tell how bad things really are, but it's clear they totally missed the boat with smartphones and tablets, while ruining their own stronghold, the pc-market. The smartphone market is lost to them. The tablet market likely as well. The world took a turn in a different direction and Microsoft kept following the interstate. They are lost.

Microsoft executives are shaken, worried and afraid.

Last two-three years have seen changes, scary changes if you are a Microsoft executive.

Nokia managed to at least dragged the Windows for phone OS touch the 4% market share. Although Nokia couldn't survive.
After Microsoft took over the management, they lost market shares within months, to some 2%.

Microsoft executives and managers have no clue how to sell phones to people.

            - They just get very cheap Nokia Mobile Division, so no looses here.
            - They have a HUGE patents (from Nokia) that controls a very good portion of Mobile Market
            - They have money from Samsung among other that PAY loyalties to Microsoft,
            - They have the total control on PC Market, PC Gaming Market
            - They have Office (software) dominion,
            - They have the 2nd best selling Gaming Console (XBox)

for they Mobile is just something they still working on, in fact they are doing a nice job making a good choice over other OS, maybe is not as popular as iOS or Android but stills there, many people is getting bored from those two and slowly are looking for a new OS experience and emerging markets has getting Windows Phones very good and if they dont have a big piece of that, well, believe me, they will not be on bankrupcy.... for they Mobile Market is a huge play ground to explore and to experiment...

Anonymous, 04 May 2015"...It's all about making money. ..." 1) May I... moreMicrosoft are not all bad and all any more competition is welcome

The Windows 8 phone brings a welcome addition as the OS is refreshingly good.
The major problem is some of the secondary apps are dire, e.g. Android world time so Dual Clock inbuilt, Windows secondary app required

Samsung have copied Apple the S6 is an Apple iPhone.
No memory expansion, and fixed battery

Apple in the iPhone6 have just reissued the iPhone5 with a larger display

Microsoft flagship phones are iPhones the bad is like Apple there are no camera settings

There is some very good NOKIA MAPS and off-line.

Nokia can make phones in 2016 which maybe an Android

Nokia were at one time the only makers of smart phones and are possibly the only phone manufacturer capable of making Android phones that are not iPhones so take on Samsung

Apple are not market leaders so I don't understand the need for the rush to follow, Microsoft now Samsung.

Microsoft have used the Nokia brand but are not making Nokia phones as Samsung of old.

Microsoft are in denial about secondary apps and is quick to announce how many apps it ha, not that many don't work

If Nokia were the dominant partners Windows would be a totally different setup

Microsoft is simply KILLING everything around Nokia, now they will make their own Microsoft Stores.

MS will dissapear everything that make an relation between Nokia and Microsof, so, there will no be Nokia branded phones or gadgets anymore and their installations will be in other places.
