My opinion about FFOS is very good - even if they can't provide 25 dollar phone... okay make it 40. Still I will prefer it over Android or iOS, because of one simple reason - PRIVACY. I don't want to join someones buisnessmodel - trust my PRIVATE DATA to them so they can make whole empire out of it. Nice... and you all are supporting that too... but if you got asked "Is privacy important to you?" - Yes... ofcourse!

As much as I support Firefox browser, There's only space for one more operating system that can be free and opensource. And that will be Ubuntu.

I think this is probably the last time we will hear about Firefox os. They are plenty of cheap phones Moto E, Microsoft Lumia 430 etc..And you get the older Nokia Lumia 530 still on sale even cheaper and Android devices to. If Firefox/Mozillas plan now is to go up in price and specs the competition are even harder. They have not the money or resources as Google, Microsoft, Samsung/Tizen etc..
So in short they are dead in my opinion.

I wish a US carrier would bring a firefox OS phone in America. I have seen they sell them in developing countries but not in the states. I guess it is because phone are already cheap any way in the US. I just saw that ATT prepaid is selling the Alcatel C1 for only $20. I have seen the ZTE zinger sell for that much also. It is really a tempting offer to have a phone that low for backup use. These two phones use Android and they have 4.4 on them.

problem with mozilla $25 smartphone is worst experiance. if u guys check again firefox os need to run with 256mb RAM to make it smooth but with $25 they provide 128mb RAM which make this phone lag, hang and need to reboot while using webapp. for me, firefox os can be alternative for android/IOS as secondary phone. make it with slide/qwerty keyboard or flip phone and then put 512mb ram and dual core with 3G this can be sell to developing country rather than to aim entry smartphone like mozilla do it now.

"We have not seen sufficient traction for a $25 phone" - no crap! who would buy a shitty smartphone. Bring to market a dual core, 4" IPS screen , min 512 RAM and 4GB ROM and a min 1500mAh battery for under 50$ with FFOS, and i'll be the first to buy it!

Take a look at Android phones! It can be done!

Don't understand, disposable phones would sell like hotcakes, especially if secure. Definitely a must have for criminals and vacationers!

                    Good move to drop it.

Cars in India. Mr Tata of infinite wealth tried to help Indians with the worlds cheapest car. It failed as it was not prestigious enough. Plenty said and we need a great appealing at lest medium phone.

Mozilla, don't bother. Unless you can revolutionise the market and provide either a better customer experience than Apple, or better coverage than android across low-high end devices, just don't bother. Stick to a niche and make cheap phones.

The super cheap firefox phone has too many problems concerning basic usage.

High end devices are near impossible for new players.

It will take a long time for Mozilla to make an impact in phone business.

Gotta walk before you can run, I suppose. At least they'd go for tried rather than trendy the whole way through. :P
