Some Nokia chargers defective, will be swapped for free

09 November, 2009
Certain Nokia-branded chargers from a third-party manufacturer sold after April are defective and Nokia started a free of charge exchange program. These chargers were either included in the box or sold separately...

Nokia does not make their chargers. They manufacture millions of phones, does not make sense they focus on manufacturing chargers or any other accessories. So they have to rely on third parties so they can focus on making their own phones. Not like Apple or Sony Ericsson, that don't own a single factory. Even Nokia's China-made phones come from their fully owned factory, so they can keep a tight hand all over the entire manufacturing proccess. As long as I know, this is how Nokia distributes their equipment (Origin - Market): China - World in general; Mexico: Americas; Hungary: Europe; Poland: Europe; India: India and Asia; Finland: world in general. BTW, I've read somewhere their factory in China is their biggest and most advanced.

its good that nokia was able to catch this flaw before anything hazardous happened. to those haters, make sure that you yourselves are perfect in every way possible before being so critical. Even the biggest companies are allowed some sort of marginal errors.

at least, they didn't wait until the chargers/batteries explode.

I've been using various chargers of another brand for over 17 years and never have such problems.

Such a problem is very common to Iphone chargers but I don't see them doing such a campaign; I am not such a big fan of Nokia but this approach is ok and professional, as they cannot control absolutely everything regarding third party products...

India is affected. Nokia has released a huge newspaper advert recalling 'defective' chargers. It says that the affected chargers were given with the Nokia Supernova phone only.

It is sad and unfortunate that Big brands like Nokia does not care for the customers and consumers who buy their products, in terms of giving them value for their hard earned Money.....Giving cheap and substandard products. Shame ......

Nokia's product quality will be ac... moreAsk those who owned "top of the line" phones like N95/97/82/86 etc...and see if they really have the "quality" for the price being paid...almost (if not totally) none of them comes with metal casing.

Or are u talking about those 8xxx/Vertu series? Yeh, quality is good on them but not sure how many really support browsing the web...or even a front cam for video call.
