Samsung exec says Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are selling well

01 June, 2015
The Korean company obviously wants to quickly refute a previous report which said it was "imploding".

      To SPACEWARRIOR:

Precisely, the Galaxy S offers cutting edge technology and some of them you don't see in ads like going beyond copy and paste and giving you access to the CLIPBOARD...something I have only seen on Windows computers...but it even goes beyond what the computer's clipboard offers...as you can store up to one item in the computers clipboard, with the Galaxy S you can store up to 20 items in clipboard memory...powering off or restarting doesn't remove them from memory either and with the S5 you can lock any of the items in memory. The clipboard feature has helped me so much with my office work. That's just one of the outstanding features that you don't see in advertisements. The Galaxy S goes beyond Android and offers true innovation. If some people want to be brainwashed and follow hype then they can go ahead and stick with a phone that's a basic phone and in no way a smartphone. To each their own. For me substance is important not just looks.

What exactly would the exec say? Oh yes, they are not selling as well as we hoped. Unless the sales are truly dreadful what else can he sensibly say? Anything else and watch their share price collapse overnight.

AnonD-1385, 02 Jun 2015To JEROME PH: How can you say that the S6 screen is tiny... moreActually iPhone 6+ sells very well. But in my opinion, iPhones look mich better in small screen than being phablets. I owned a S3 and love it.....^~^.....S3 is nicknamed ****iPhone Killer****although iPhones at the time sold well. I like some iPhones design, but I think Galaxy phones are meant to be innovative, to change the world we live with Samsung's cutting edge technology.

Jerome PH, 02 Jun 2015With the launch of a large screen iPhone 6, I think the S6 ... moreTo JEROME PH:

How can you say that the S6 screen is tiny and the iPhone 6 screen is large? The S6 has a 5.1 inch screen while the iPhone 6 has a 4.7 inch screen while the Note 4 has a 5.7 inch screen and the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch screen. That's the correct comparative analysis. The worse part about it is that Apple followed Samsung in making larger screen phones...but the absolute worse part is the 6 Plus 5.5 inch screen being in a larger body than the Note 4 which has a bigger 5.7 inch screen. The result is a big ugly odious phablet from Apple which isn't selling well. Only the 4.7 inch iPhone is doing well. Don't forget the Galaxy S2, S3 and S4 did very well...the S5 did well as well according to several stock companies...just not as well as Samsung expected. For the most part the S2, S3 and S4 basically outsold the iPhone in their era.
Even the S3 has a bigger screen at 4.8 inches while the Note 2 has the same size as the 6 Plus...and that was three years ago. Think before you speak because saying that the iPhone has a big screen while the Galaxy has a tiny screen is just plain stupid.

S6 launched on April 11 and shipped 10.7 millions ( 7.3 Flats + 3.4 Edges ) within the month, i.e., 20 days. In comparison, S5 and S4 had taken 25 days and 27 days to reach 10 millions, respectively. Of 10.7 million S6s, 6.1 millions ( 3.3 Flats + 2.8 Edges ) were sold to consumers in April. In comparison, total 4.72 million S5s and 6.9 millon S4s had been sold during the initial two months, respectively. So, sales of S6 surpassed those of S5 and S4 in every point.

These figures were from Counterpoint, a Hong Kong based data tracker and recently acknowledged by Samsung. Samsung's headache was that during the first month Edges were sold out in most places while Flats remained half in inventory. That's why they are currently expanding production lines of curved displays for Edges.

With the launch of a large screen iPhone 6, I think the S6 with its tiny 5.1in screen and the Edge's 5.2in size frame, is way too late to catch up with Apple. Apple sales have soared to make it the world's most valuable company.

I think I kinda figure out why S6 hasn't reached to the selling mark that most people expect it to be. Removing SD slot and non-removable battery do bother customers. The biggest reason could be S6 not releasing bigger version like iPhone 6+. If there is a S6/S6 Edge with at least 5.5 inches display, like the so-said phablets, S6 should sell like hotcakes just lik iPhone 6~~^^

Every time, under the article about any statement from Samsung, all the Samsung lovers suddenly comes out from darkness to the light and starts writing comments praising samsung phones, bashing others without any sense of respect, objectivity and bias. This makes me think that Samsung still owns an army of trolls, who gets paid for a number of comments on various sites for worshiping samsung crap.

Dear Samsung, start investing in the quick SW with low no. of bugs instead of providing 1 mln different models. One S model, one Note model and few cheaper devices, that's all!
