Carphone Lee, 14 Nov 2009Hate to step on any toes, but there are FAR more apps avail... moreYeah?

Just like there are lots of DOS programs nobody uses anymore.

No-one comes close to 100,000 Apps, not Symbian or WinMo or anyone else.

In 2007 Steve Ballmer stated there were 17,000 WinMo applications, the Symbian Foundation stated there were just under 10,000 Symbian applications.

That leaves Java, Palm and Android applications.

Hate to step on any toes, but there are FAR more apps available for WinMo then iPhone. What they lack is an official delivery system. Yes the 'appstore' from Apple may have the largest official count of a single source, but developers have been independantly delivering WinMo content for years before the iPhone launch. Now that an official channel is being implemented, more and more developers will see the value in allowing their content to be shared with this platform. The likes of Ovi have alot of catching up to do!

sekundes @_@, 13 Nov 2009im not talking about pirated versions of apps.. im taking a... moreHaha. You are not talking about pirated apps? What are cracked and bootlegd apps if not pirated? Every product is having its license agreement, that agreement describes what you as 3rd party user can and what can't do with licensed product that you crack, bootleg, hack or just use. Even if you change just one letter in product(read app) and then distribute or use it by your own, that is piracy and illegal, except if it is clearly stated in license that you have rights to change it. As far I know, nobody would like to give his/her work to get changed, there are rare cases, but Symbian app vendors aren't ones, unless some of those supply crowd with GPL(General Public License) apps and such. So I bet that you have hundreds of pirated apps and games in your Nokia N97, and by that, your N97 is pirated too(for example you have legal Windows 7, but you install cracked program. Your Windows 7 is not legal anymore cause you broke rules and contract made betwen you and Microsoft via license agreement by using pirated stuff), next time, if you have money, purchase those apps and games, that will bring peace to you and will support developers that brought you all that great stuff.
I know that license agreements are so boring, but people should read them.

Etolix, 13 Nov 20090w7t see that part in the reply above, that is based on you... moreBig lol at you 'vael'. You said what I already know, and that 'vael' bellow your comment is generated with usage of your ip or current usage of proxy. I know all that cause I'm designer and program developer, I have built websites before and I know how it works. I don't get it what you try to tell me or even treat me(if you do so, I am close with laws and some peep, and you can be in trouble) but lol, sounds obsolete. Anyway, what I meant by privacy sucked by safari is that all content from say for example iPhone gets generated in list, and then that info and your messages and contacts get transfered to them(I can't claim but I just guess). Apple claims that it is doing it so they can examine needs of their customers, and I belive so, but there is always possibility that some of say it again iPhone user gets its privacy and data sucked up by company that supposed to protect him for using their product. How do you think, what for do I have HTC Touch Pro and Bold(and I never surf with them on same sims or at all) for work and few java phones to comment on sites as well as bunch of sim cards? Coz of privacy, at PC you can use proxy, but even then there is no safety, lol. Could you be more specific what you tried to tell?

You have no idea what you are talking about, it's just a crazy rant.

Anonymous, 13 Nov 2009So Microsoft is now copying iTunes, can't they do anything ... moreIf any other brand copy Apples AppStore then Apple copied indie sites like getjar softpedia download.com and others. Those got the ideas 1st among all to store apps by type and os. Comparing to those even AppStore will suck forever. Win Marketplace sux. But who would use it anyway when there is tons of apps aside. It is like each brand have some number of cards to play with, say it that Microsoft and Symbian have so a lot but they let their users play with them by their own, unlike Apple that built its castle of cards and now filtrates its visitors, limits them, and steals their privacy and right on freedom. Every time anyone step on safari server, his/her ip gets overwatched and privacy sucked away, all web sites and servers do same, but Apple and Palm are at the top, nevermind ad companies. But who cares as long as someone accepts to get sucked that way it's his/her stuff.

Symbian sucks.. the interface is so laggy and not smooth. And windows mobile is terrible.. Sure it offers so much program but such program is not so user-friendly for daily use.

So Microsoft is now copying iTunes, can't they do anything at all without copying Apple.

I wonder if they'll have a Mac version.

Apple with over 100,000 Apps has way more than anyone else at it's 10th anniversary the Symbian foundation announced that there were roughly 10,000 Symbian applications, Nokia doesn't even come close, there may be lots of sites with free (pirated) Symbian applications but they all have the same applications

As soon new iPhone with bigger res jump out, AppStore will be bunch of waste for already outdated iPhone toys. WinMo is having its last stand, but here comes Android to rule them all.

good thing about symbian is that all devs can make any app they want and like 95% of them are free! when you look at the LEGAL side of the markety, it's clear that apple is taking the lead.. but when you look on the onderworld side of things.. nokia beats all of them.. COMBINED @_@

apple never even came close @_@

Seems that iphone was the beggining of a new generation. Besides the fact that every single mobile company want to make a device like iphone, now they also step on Apple's software delivery system.

Though Nokia has more symbiamwares outside Ovi Store than what Apple can ever reach or imagine.
