I have seen one HTC store in a mall that had been completely replaced by a Lenovo (Mobile) store. When I asked from a concierge its relocation whereabouts, they responded that they are nowhere to be found and had not relocated nor opened on the same mall

They told me HTC phones selling like hotcakes in your country, even better than MyPhone or Cherry Mobile. But I think most people there prefer Samsung/LG and some prefer iPhone right?

The reason why HTC is struggling because HTC open few markets in ASIA and they release few affordable smartphone. Like in my country - the Philippines, which most of the people buy smartphone that they can afford or bang for the buck (Around US$ 30 to US$ 150).

HTC is failing because of a multitude of very poor decisions.

The M7 had no SD slot and was kind of thick for its time andbattery size, but offset with metal and a curve.
The ultra pixel tech with ois was a bit of a let down at 4mp, but decent and great at low light.

The M8 had a bad flare issue on the camera, didn't have that much better of a display, and not only did they not upstate the camera they even downgraded it to no OIS. Ois and an upgrade to at least 8mp ultra pixels with a better lens would have been more than acceptable.
              Speakers only improved a bit.

Now it's 2015 and it's almost 10mm thick and still has less than a 3000mah battery and they could have used li poly to help.
The screen got worse in ways.
Battery life took a hit on most ways.
They rushed a good sensor with bad software, not a strong enough lens, and no ois a second time. Again they could have made an 8 or 12mp ultra pixels sensor with ois.

And the speakers. Yes they sound good. But they are too quiet. For being a third year and supposedly being the best.
It's 2015 and my 2009 Omnia HD is only a couple decibels being and not that far behind in quality.
6 years difference and only a bump in quality and volume????
Even the Z3 with water protecting membranes over the speakers actually has higher quality sound for vocals and give detail in music.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2015The fact is the 20MP sensor on the HTC One M9 IS horrible. ... moreFalse. The sensor is s very good one minus it lacking OIS.
It's their terrible image processing that let's it down.. And somewhat lacking ois. And they could have included a so l somewhat better lens.

And ultra pixels is a great tech. It was what they did with it that let down.

The photos may look "not too bad" on the phone, but once viewed on any bigger screen, and you can see how terrible it is (although still better than the ultrapixel images). It's so bad, that even HTC themselves admit that it needs fixing. There was a recent update that has made a pretty big improvement. It went from the worst flagship cell phone camera to maybe a little below average. However, the damage has already been done.

I really can't believe how poorly received the HTC One M9 has been. All around it's a top notch premium device, but it lacks in select areas here and there which is why people are shopping elsewhere for phones. It's a situation of "well it has this, but it doesn't have that" kind of deal. It's definitely a cut throat game out there for the "best" flagship smartphone. What angers me is how people keep cutting down HTC for the 20MP sensor in the M9, folks... The sensor in the M9 is far from horrible. If you're a photographer purist, stick with a DSLR. A 20MP camera in a phone is a marvel in itself. I've seen samples from friends with the M9 and the photos are no worse than photos I've seen taken with other flagships. I'm sure in select situations it may under perform, but it's not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.

HTC should simply go back to plastics thats when it was good, the exception being one x. Asus should rescue the brand if anything. Asus was a smaller player when HTC was at their peak and now they are in a position to buy them out. That speaks volume.

For starters this hero device must come with a Chinese style humongous capacity 5000+mAh battery for ppl to pay attention. Huge bezel be gone, no black logo bar, super rear camera with OIS as well as very good 13+MP selfie cam, 4GB RAM with 64/128GB int storage plus 1TB SD card slot,QSD 820 chip, a QHD screen of between 5.2' to 5.5' etc.
