sr777, 15 Jun 2015Can you name few apps that you cant live without?Well, he didn't say he couldn't live without them, just that it was a negative to not have them available. Also, it doesn't sound like he would be convinced to live without them if he doesn't like the OS. I, on the other hand, have had only Windows Phones for years (since leaving my BB Curve). I do sacrifice when my kid plays iGames with her friends and I can't join in (Clash of Clans, mainly) and also when I can't use the Avaya One-X app for work like my colleagues do. VPN is a non-issue for me now that Citrix is available though. I'll stick with Windows Phone for a while. That said, the lack of a camera button and fixed home buttons turn me off of this 640. I'll keep my 520 for those two reasons alone. However, I would pay the extra for the 830, but I'm still waiting to see what Win10 Mobile hardware recommendations (not requirements) will be.

I tried the 640XL. My opinion: Positives: Build quality, battery lasted ages, opening MS Docs. Negatives: OS, the hassle of multiple registrations for everything, the lack of Apps in the App Store (yes this really was a big problem), a little too big, performance only just okay, Cortana was next to useless, just a gimmick it seemed to me.

Anonymous, 15 Jun 2015Who would buy a Windows device now? Seriously with Android ... moreYou can ask the same about iPhones. I agree iOS is more mature and has a large app ccollectio. IPhone is a closed eco system, not just in the developer aaspect but also in the end user aspect (iTunes, pproprietary cables etc ). Still people buy them. Windows phones are more customizable and open in end user aspect than iphones. It's middle in both. And like Android, windows phones come in from low priced to high end. Apple only has highend devices.

Who would buy a Windows device now? Seriously with Android Windows is now over (at least phones).. I used to hate Android, and be a Windows phone fanatic but now this is over. Microsoft had a chance before.. Why would we buy a closed ecosystem while there's Android and its customizability and availability of whatever ROM you like with much powerful hardware even the low ends.. SD400? Really? Evem if it doesn't need much power, this isn't justifiable.. Look at the Chinese OEMs! Powerful new hardware for much less prices.. Microsoft is worse than Samsung with its dumb phones

Will this be the last WP8.1 device to be released? Hopefully we'll start seeing W10 devices soon. I have a feeling it's going to bring a lot more manufacturer competition.

Honestly this phone, much like the 635, hits that 'sweet middle' where it's both sturdy, not too compact but not a phablet either. Really hits a lot of good design points.
