It is also helpful if the device van be viewed as an aggregation of a number of subsystems.
The battery, for example, comes from the field of Electro-Chemistry. Where, for the last few decades, experts in this industry have been researching, experimenting and delivering improvements in energy density that have delivered constant imorovements in battery performance.
During any typical day, the variety of tasks that users run on their mobile device can require high levels of processing power or much, much lower levels of processing power.
In order to make the user happy when running processor-intensive jobs, it is neccessary to have a powerful enough engine (say, a 5.3L V12 as in my BMW 750).
But running such a fuel-guzzling engine even when the user just wants to type an email, or make a phone call, would, of course, prove wasteful.
So, just as the engine management system on my Beemer automatically switches down to only 6-cylinders when I am tootling around town, so also do the variable-power banks of processors in a deca-core array.
It really is just that simple, and if the design engineers at BMW had already devised such proven techniques for saving fuel - then I guess a similar engine management system for the power plant of my mobile digital device, in principal, should deliver similar savings in battery power.
It is not only about the delivery of raw power from all ten cores, rather, it is about tactful matching of appropriate resources as and only when required. Thus avoiding wasteful consumption of fuel, or battery life.

This is so sad i can't even read. I used to love technology before wannabes like apple came with their "first" smartphone of the world (I don't want to talk about their last macintosh, retarded in everyway possible, the world is seriously dung) and then, this Android (a sad asmatic system way behind symbian with more cores. Don't jump you wannabe's, apple's ios an wp are in the same bucket with it, the handroid), adopted by the samsung copycats. Technology simply can't go worse then this. I want a phone with a 100 core processor and a Gigantic humongous large big medium little tiny micro architecture and a Memory size capable of caching every data in the internet and it should be .08mm thick so even if I drop it, it would just drift softly like a piece of paper.

Somehow I think that there may be some people like me who want a super smartphone for superprocessor coming with super endurance running through the day, moreover than talking, chit-chat, and some simple games.
I use smartphone for earthquake, meteorology notification, finding some info or calculate something with speed in the emergency.
However, I experienced some lagging or cpu spent more time to be back to idle mode, handling more background application which established the live feed information over the world.

Chip makers are headed the wrong direction. Bigger, better cores = better performance. More cores =/= better performance. Apple figured it out YEARS AGO that big, wide CUSTOM CORES provided the best mobile experience.
My iPhone 5S completes all daily tasks faster than my Galaxy S6 on 5.1.1 w/ T-Mobile. With a 1500mah battery. And it lasts just as long in use.

I don't understand this complaining about the number and setup of the cores and judgment by armchair experts. All that matters is the performance/power consumption/heat characteristics. That can be objectively tested. If it's good, it's a good system, that's all there is to it.
I think this chip has good chances. Good single/multi performance, finally a decent gpu, based on specs and early benchmarks.
