There are no real advantages to make it with a round display.
In most cases round displays have to display mote background image, becase letters and numbers in the infor you are receiveing must end with a straight line.
Smart Watches are far from the first expensive wathces with sqaurish format.
On another note. Unless Apple is going to release the Apple Watch 2, by the same time they release the 6s, things could change, many times before it goes in to production.
