Is it any surprise they've made no impact with their smartphones when they ruin Nokia, then almost completely fail to support WP whatsoever while Android and iOS continually update and refine? You can't sit with your thumb up your backside and complain that the competition is thrashing you because they're actually doing something and you're not. Microsoft, where ignorance, stagnation and silence are the way forward.

like i touched in a comment in thenother article, value migh mean midrange, if MS is trying to polish their brand.
i dont think that it is a wise choice cosidering they are pretty much the only company that does windows mobile that is global. they need global budget devices. and they cant thrive without a midrange (1-2 midrange devices per year sounds little, though, so then they would need other to deliver alternatives in the midrange as well, and that sounds unlikely
given the position of windows mobiles today)

The only way which can change microsoft is to understand the public needs....they think professionally bt not the public they just want features in there smartphone now just think what the hell public will do with the new bullshit thought of microsoft creating vibrant windows ecosystem on all desktop pc laptops and mobile division ! I know that helps bt that can't increase sales anyway....windows phones hav got restrictions all the way people can't even use different launchers except that brick tiles which often make people bore

The only way Microsoft will gain any market share is if they tear down all the restrictions in Windows Phone and allow everything that Android allows. I have just switched from Lumia 920 to OnePlus One and before that I had the Motorola Defy. Microsoft's OS is great but falls short of just 2 things: everything is locked down and no latest features and apps are released first for the platform.
I am sure that if they open up the system, it would not only compete toe to toe with Android, it can overtake it as well!

Microsoft can improve it's market share considerably if they give more features with less cost which they are doing. But to get the mid-range, they have to do more. Better hardware is the necessity now as it's Android counterparts are providing. See Xiaomi and other brands. High performance hardware, still not no expensive. The Win 10 will be more cleaner than 8. If the market share increases, application developers will be attracted. Otherwise nobody will give a damn about application developed for WinPhone. I recently ordered a Lumia 640 and it's good. MS still needs better mid range phones. That's just my opinion.

Microsoft taking up Android is possible... "BUT"
But ask yourself: If they take up Android, how will they convince others to take up Windows Mobile OS?
They want more partners, and in this case, they can't convince partners if they're themselves into Android...

So, I use these 2 apps, and everything else I need: GPS, facebook, maps, dictionaries is already installed. And Opera is absolutely nice. Playing games? On a phone? Are you kidding, who's that retarded to lose precious time with gaming on a phone! Laughable.. And one more thing: like with computers, the more you install on a phone, the better the chance some foreign company gets all your phone numbers, SMS and data and you only clog it untill it's slow as useless

well miscrosoft is following nokias path...atleast with their mobile business....simply wm is bad not atractive..boring...no apps support like others os...plus laying off people ....well i guess nokia people...ill stick with my android and with my old nokia n95 thats the real nokia..not this fake.

LET ME TELL YOU ITS MAIN FEATURE. WINDOWS 10 is a one operating system of all devices ie phone, tablets, PC, hololens,Iots,surfaces etc. It is based on the criteria one app for every windows 10 device. PC vendors and techies, surveys Already shows success of windows 10. Millions of people reserved their free upgrade. 5 millions are insiders. So in every aspect windows 10 will be the successful OS.windows has a large market shares in PC market, laptops etc. Developers will have to make apps that are universal apps which will run on evey windows 10 device.so,app gap will be wiped out in the coming months and even Microsoft properly announced their projects ir project astroia,project islandwood, project sentinel. That will make easier for developers to make apps. That's the future now present situation we don't have YouTube. We don't have proper instagram app But we have third party apps like 6tag for instagram. There are many best third party apps for YouTube which are far better than Google's native app. We are happy with our nice operating system but with windows 10's success and when app gap is finished we will be satisfied.

Its just your age and your lifestyle, and you're ranting about windows because they don't have an (you called) BASIC apps like instagram, there's not only you in this world, different person different need, they love windows phone because the existance of the such apps don't affect them because they don't use it. Just so you know windows phone have instgram but beta and not updated since 2013 but there are third party apps. If you know windows phone doesn't have instagram why you use windows phone?
