Again with those comparisons of phones to cars and vice-versa. They can never be said as 'same', they may share particular attributes but not too identical that you can compare them side-by-side or directly. Give those two a break since they are of a distinct category. Else, why not we compare phones to washing machines, air-conditioners, refrigerators, ovens, toasters, dishwashing machines, and other electronic appliances since phones fall under 'electronics' more than cars do lean toward 'machinery' or 'automotive/automobiles' (that could actually transport someone from spot A to dot B)? Include sales figures if you will or luxuriousness if you must. There's some luxuriousness in those aforementioned electronics. Although modern cars come packing more and more of all things techy and they get more 'connected' with all the electronics, fusing machines and smart electronics are masterpieces of each car maker's own but they never get to solely fall under 'electronics'

I don't understand people calling Iphone users fools. Well I am myself an Android user (from India) but what I believe is Android has almost 80% penetration in low/middle income segment and Apple has the same in the high end segment. The Apple users are even more in VERY HIGH income segment especially the celebrity (businessman, sportsman, actor, polician, etc.) class. So are they fools? I don't think so because they make all their money either directly or indirectly from us low/middle segment Android users. So that makes Android users like me bigger fools.

The thing is we should accept the fact that Apple makes the most profits. And we use what we like or afford. There shouldn't be any bitterness, period.

Hang on. Apple does not have "industry dominance" in any sense. It sells less than one fifth of the smartphones sold. Apple's mobile OS is available on only one brand of device. Apple is not the leader in introduction of new technology. The fact that Apple is the most profitable is not proof of "industry dominance". What it proves is that the minority of consumers who prefer Apple's devices are prepared to pay a disproportionately higher price for those devices. The same can be said about Rolls-Royce and while there is no doubt that Apple produces the "Rolls-Royce" of smartphones, no one would suggest that Rolls-Royce is dominant in its industry. Profitability is only any use to the owners of the business. The thousands of workers who produce the phones (from high-end industrial designers to miners of metals at the rock face) the amount of profit flowing into the pockets of shareholders does not matter a pixel on a retina display.

I have my issues with Apple, but in my experience, they provide the best overall user experience on the desktop, tablet and phone. Apple products are well made, well designed and generally well supported.

I use a lot of phones and the 6 Plus is my daily driver now. Overall, it's the best phone I've ever had. It replaced an Xperia, which I got after returning an S5.

Anonymous, 13 Jul 2015It's amazing how many people think the BOM of a phone is ho... moreDude, we understand it is not only BOM, but also software development, marketing etc all plays into the cost of a phone. What you don't understand is - despite ALL of those other costs put together, Apple is having an insane profit margin. That is not good for consumers of iphones/ipads and only good for Apple as a company. THAT is the rip-off people are talking about. Do you get it?

If you still don't get it and feel very happy for Apple, the least I would expect is - boasting off Apple's profit margins from ifanboys. Apple fanboys boasting about number of iphones sold in a quarter/year is fine to me. It just shows how many people like its quality compared to other smartphones. But people boasting off Profit margin of Apple - that is just plain ridiculous.
