Hey I just bought my E72 in Vietnam, from a Nokia dealer (does not mean I am 100% certain product is legit). Looks legit, as I had an E71 to compare. Battery had label. The phone is labeled "made in China"...can anyone who give first hand comment where they are made, how they are labeled.
Of course lots of companies outsource to China...specifically is the E72? and how can I tell? First hand comments please.
All my previous Nokias are labeled "..Finland, or...Made by Nokia"

Anonymous, 07 Dec 2009And twice (if not 3 times) the thickness (and weight??)Wh cares about some extra grams and milimiters, are you so delicate to feel hurt carrying a N900?? C'mon it's not a brick and it has great features that makes me forget about the weight and thickness. Personally I feel better having a fat phone that at least feels solid and will take better any drop/accident.

trancehell, 05 Dec 2009"[...] bought from Nokia USA's online store the SIM-free ph... morePart of the reasons for Americans not willing to spend as much $ on a phone than European / Asian counterparts could be the fact most Americans "have" to drive....
The annual insurance (liability only) may cause as much as an N900 on an annual basis, which is a MUST for those who own cars.
Not to mention about maintenance, gasoline, and other expenses (guys may want to upgrade the stereo, wheels and stuff)
Then overall US is a much larger place than either Europe or Asia, where except a few metropolitan cities, most people don't really see each other that often. Hence most people relatively don't really care how "advance" the others are using (what models) phones.
Plus, the "culture" is most people buy phones with contracts, where iphone "costs" US$199 for many customers.
Maybe you're a hi-tech person who looks for the top gadgets, but for most ordinary people (in America), having an "ok" phone with a good price is much more important.

N900 can compete with Iphone and Blackberry and even surpasse them. Maemo OS it's a OS more evolved than Iphone OS and Blackberry OS. Has features that the other two don't have. A better internet browser for example.

Actually in term of many things, e72 is better than the onyx. But in term of dedicated network canal and unlimited internet access, the onyx punches e72 in the left eye. And unfortunatelly for e72, for both phones' market segment, those two features which are counted.

"[...] bought from Nokia USA's online store the SIM-free phone costs 469 US dollars (approx. 311 euro, tax and shipping excluded) which might be a little high for the US market.
However, this is at least 85 euro less than what Europeans are paying at Nokia online stores across the Old continent. The street price in Europe is higher as well - starting from 350 euro."
Interesting... Altought the US market regards the price as being a little high, it's lower than the EU price.. This can mean 2 things: either the US market is a no-nonsense market (so what's with so many iPhones and Blackberries ?), or the EU market is willing to pay more for less.. It depends on how are you using your money plan, because many other market segments have different significance between US and EU daily life.

The price in Cambodia dropped from 460 dollars to 390 dollars now for Nokia E72. You can check it here http://www.hakse.com.kh/ProductDetail.aspx?ID=756 and it might be dropping some more.
So, if you got a chance to visit Cambodia you should be able to buy this device at this price or cheaper! ;)
For me, I feel disappointed because I buy this device, E72, at the price of $460. :(

Brilliant phone. I have the EU version since last week and it is extremely quick. Worth the upgrade over the E71 and Blackberries. This excites me more than the N900 or other QWERTY based smartphones.

It's really nice to see nokiaUSA actually launch the phones pretty quickly right after the global release date
That means that more nokia models will be showing up in USA now
