No other m... moreIn the mobile apps' battle category???..that's still is a big maybe/if my young Padawan. On everything else "SMARTPHONE"-wise,you have to be high on some really expensive narcotics to claim the same.Check the latest analyst datas on "smartphones'" usage (and I do mean google EVERYTHING under the sun, just like you would for pron :)) and surprise surprise....Blackberry just won't go away do they? And what's this?We still have clunky old WinMo around???My point?I still see Nokia up there with their market share;they put out the N900 on a NEW OS no less with the same experimental confidence? While having 65K (or is it 100k and counting now?) apps at your disposal may be cool, not so when the bulk of 'em are either useless or nowhere near to "smart" or productive.Apple created (10 points to them) the illusionary "high end, high margin" category out of thin air simply via carriers' exclusivity and good ole Apple style price fixing at revenue share. Now they have AT&T screwing their cool cred by shoddy coverage, dropped calls and confused plans.Gongs are banging now that Apple's seriously considering the "normal" rest of the world UNLOCKED route.lol...;p. The app market just happens to be the icing on the cake for them.Wonder if it'll retain the same charm should it be available to a wider audience on proper unlocked basis.Pointless to have 100k apps if people are gonna be screwed over by specific data plans they can't change.iPhone's good yes but the majority of seasoned smartphone adults would fork out the same amount of good money for something AT LEAST with a replaceable battery AND the ability to pick the plans mind you.Coincidentally since we're on this thread something like the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD for eexample.

Samsung is a great brand..no doubt. BUT when it comes to firmware support or updates they do suck even in their own propriety OS which is the TouchWiz. Specifically if you're living in Asia, it's either we're always the last to have an update or none at all.

Iphone sold millions in the 1st week of release. No other manufacturer can come even close! Everyone loves the iphone thats why they buy it! And over 90% of people who have iphone say they would never buy another phone and why? because its better than any other phone! So stop trying to win a battle you know you have no chance winning!

                  To @hmei.
iphone touch is the winner than samsungs.but icrapp(iphone)cannot send mp3 file.just great on UI.dont waste your money for useless iCrapphone, too much main disadvantage for high-end phone

                  go for :
                  n900 for great browser phone
                  satio for great camera smartphone
omnia hd for full entertainment smartphone or Jet for mid end full entertainment phone
iCrapphone just great for show off

NvS, 27 Dec 2009Determining the 2010 winner is a lot of speculation,i think... moreThe problem with Sony Ericsson, and to a lesser extent Nokia, is that they do little to innovate. They are far far far FAR to slow to react to the market. LG and Samsung, which are relative mobile newcomers compared to Nokia and SE, jumped on the oh so appealing touch screen bandwagon very very early. And look where it got them. Touch screen alone brought these two...upstarts, frankly, to be two major world players. LG's software quality is appalling (the number of crashing LG's i know is immense), and Samsung's Build quality isnt fantastic. But for value for money, they are truly sublime.

Nokia were very clever when they went to the Touchscreen world. They brought out a phone which had it all, for at least £200 less than the competition that did the same thing. Sure, it was never going to be an iPhone. But at its way cheaper sim free, PAYG and contract.

Sony ericsson are only just beginning to take up the Touch market, and they are doing it at the top of the bracket. Sure, it'll attract your rich families but its no good for us normal people. I think the lack of innovation, and SE's insistence to stick to old ways (fast port, M2) could very well be the death of the company.

I personally think Android, therefore (atm) HTC, are set to take over the world. Symbian doesnt offer a usability package that most want (I prefer it to any other, hence why i use it, but most like the pretty graphics of other OS). WinMo is fundamentally flawed, and while Samsung do a bloody good job covering it, the App availability is still limited. iPhones are technically brilliant, Theres no denying that they are the ultimate of technical brilliance. But they are simply too expensive, and too "uncustomizable" (word created for that purpose :3) to be appealing to the masses. A year ago, everyone wanted an iPhone. now everyone wants an N97 mini, or a Satio or something like that.

SE was slow to resp0nse the trend. After music and cameraph0ne, there was smartph0ne trend (here, the g0lden age 0f n0kia).

Lets h0pe dying manufacturers will never face bankruptcy. Coz IMO, Competiti0n raises the Innovati0n.

Btw i still use my 0ld w810. Best ph0ne i ever had. Durable (dropped and sank many times but it still works perfectly), stable s0ftware,excellent s0und,great camera.

A lil bit disapp0inted with my k850. Slow A200 platf0rm in running media player at the same time with several java apps. The media player drain its mem0ry. N0t t0 menti0n sl0wness searching c0ntact (its ann0ying). Xen0n flash s0meh0w t0o str0ng (overexp0sed pic), and restart in few 0ccasi0n (in my case, coz media player updting mem0ry card aut0matically). but the rests r great.

Believe it or not i was a SE fan once, especially W-series,i owned W810,W850,then W890 but after W890 i'm no longer SE fan,the fastport is the culprit of SE downfall, all of my W-series earphone broke down after 8 months usage, really low quality, and the Memory stick issue though it's a lot more stable than micro SD,but the compatibility issue is annoying, not to mention the boring UI,i must say even nokia s40 is better than SE's UI with their level of customization.

Actually the W-series sound chip is great among other music-brand phones, the 2nd best to iPhone only, deep insida i almost feel sorry for SE,but their stupidity and stubborn attitude get them now,the company is dying.

As for samsung, this copycat company produces phones with more features, attractive design compare to others,it's still copycat from other phones and their innovation is still awful like this i8910,their serious flaw is the phone quality, most of them are below compare to nokia, but samsung had their ways of mixing the copy tech.implementing them into something that look cool & promising and it worked, they also had brilliant marketing steps to withstand their position even progressing to be number one.

However i used to love SE from the beginning :D. facing the fact that SE lost in the game coz of their so called delaying their 'Guns', fastport ( n0 3,5mm audi0 jack, n0 microUsb), expensive m2 which ppl out there complain about. I d0nt b0ther with that (the same with ind0nesian crazy to get new n-series although they'r l0ok the same design n features) since i cant aff0rd th0se fresh new hi-end ph0nes 0nce they released hehe.

                                  Samsung get ind0nesian heart n0w by aff0rdable t0uchscreen c0rby,star. Its ab0ut time t0 see the d0wnfall 0f n0kia (i thnk Asia is n0kia's mine of m0ney).

bach, 26 Dec 2009Yes thats the fact here. Even fr0m all my college friends w... moreI get it,that means my prediction about nokia downfall in 2010 might become true, and since you've been kind enough to share the condition in your place i'll also share my opinion:

You see,one of the main reason all the big time players like nokia,se,etc making high end phones is the greater profit by selling high end phones,it's true middle to lower class have more market but the high end ones also used as trendsetter like n73 or samsung omnia (back when the prize is still high)

High end phone is identical to quality, more functionality, brand new features, some with cool design, and of course...the prize,to put it in a word it's all about the company esteem, which in return will elevate the company brand and also finally the company's mid & low end phones,in other word : if the mid & low phones are the bullets, then the high end one is the big gun..you might notice why se choose selling satio & aino, motorola with DROIDS,those dying companies didn't even bother making mid end ones because for them right now survival is paramount, taking them to a safe position and they need the big guns for it,so high end phones might safe a troubled company,of course if they could play it right.

By reading your post,it means nokia really had a fierce battles in all fronts, their high end is overtaken by iPhone & android based phones, while the low end slowly eaten away by cheap chinese phones,as for middle segment, let's not forget there are Samsung,lg and SE.

In global world, nokia is already lost battle in high end phone arena, which means unless they had another jack of the trade,it's only a matter of time for nokia to go down.

I'm not saying iPhone will rule the market, not yet..so far they just sold the high end ones, but in the future should they launched the middle class just like their strategy with iPod,the map of competition is changed.

Loosing market in high end products might become loosing in the lower class, let's wait and see in 2010,who'll be the reign champion.
