I hate Samsung, 12 Aug 2015"... it is slower than the Snapdragon 801..." T... moreCalm down. Its just for the niche market. This S5 Neo is not for mass produce. The Neo version is made to stay relevant in the current year. Neo does not mean downgrade. Its actually simply just a Galaxy S5 2015 Edition. When I say 2015 Edition that mean even after 2016 the Neo series will stay the same stuck in its 2015 software without upgrade. That is the truth about Neo product from Samsung. It just a 2015 forever version of S5.

"... it is slower than the Snapdragon 801..."
Typical Samsung. Removing the good stuff in the Neo's Instead of keeping that 801SoC and thus keep community development running for that device,
"...has a better modem,..."
... Which is in reality completely useless in Europe since most telcos only provide about 50mbps. A Cat 4 modem is sufficient for the next 2 years as I don't see telco's increasing bandwidth any time soon :-(
"Plus there is a better 5MP selfie snapper and FM radio."
... oh great, last year the "next big thing" were those ridiculous high resolution screens and this year it's the ridiculous hi-res selfie cams. While once promoted for 3G videocalling and never truly utilized, this is IMHO completely stupid. Just mount a little chrome button-mirror at the back and use the proper back camera for "selfies" and simply ditch the front camera altogether. Not to mention that megapixels mean nothing when coupled with a crappy plastic lens and half-baked crap-software.
"...Samsung wants to keep the Galaxy S5 for a while..."
Technically this is NOT a Galaxy S5 at all. They could have just called it the Galaxy J5 or Galaxy Grand Neo 5 for all I care. It are moves like this that ruins Samsung's reputation and destroys the Galaxy S reputation. The community need to start developing for a completely different platform that uses the same name and consumers get confused when app x that ran on the original S5 doesn't run on the Neo.
FU Samsung!

Mobility, 12 Aug 2015I'd buy this if I see good reviews about battery life. A... moreThanks for pointing out the new usb. I like it. Better than S6 with the removable battery and sd slot and even waterproofing. One drawback of Neo series from Samsung is that there is no future updates. Observe all the Samsung device with Neo tag. Note 3 Neo, Grand Neo, S3 Neo and others.

"As others Neo handsets, the S5 Neo switches the Snapdragon 801 chip for Samsung's own Exynos 7580..."
The Galaxy S III to Galaxy S3 Neo switched from Exynos 4412 Quad to Snapdragon 400 which is better for camera apps. The Snapdragon APIs provide means for better control of the post processing. One example: sharpening can be tuned and even switched off in third party camera apps like Snap HDR Camera, Camera FV-5 and Focal.

At a price point higher than original S5, this kind of loses sense. In my personal opinion.
No radio or better selfie camera can cover for a slower chipset or lack of fingerprint sensor, or knowing your device is a simpler version of a CHEAPER phone...

I'd buy this if I see good reviews about battery life.
Attractive features:
Water resistant
Got rid of original S5's ugly usb flap
Supposed great battery life
FM radio
Removable battery
Android Lollipop out of the box
SD card slot
It has everything I need in a smartphone except for a true phablet-sized screen.

The nasty glossy side stripes seem to have gone, which is nice. Also, no flap covering the USB port this time around, although it is no longer 3.0

It is assumed that Neo should be, if not better, at least equal to the original. And not only it is not the same, but it is even worse?

AnonD-305109, 11 Aug 2015What does the slower chipset mean for the battery life, tho... moreMaybe. What's sure is that it makes more profit for Samsung.

Why not fit the latest 7420 chipset and soup it up a bit. We want 100,000 on Antutu!

439 Euros, seems a bit high to me considering the slower chipset. You could probably get a Moto X Style for that. What's the draw here or am I missing something? Bought my wife an S5 the other day for 358 Euros.

AnonD-305109, 11 Aug 2015What does the slower chipset mean for the battery life, tho... moreCan't role-out that possibility, though S5 already has great battery life. Other than that, darker bezels, posh looking faux leather & USB 2.0 seems to be the changes GSMA failed to notice.
