The price of the Note5 64GB are still a lot cheaper than just the iPhone6 plus 64GB in my country. That's the perk being living in a free-tax country. So I'm not gonna bothered for being called hipster for buying this Note5.

This is a real good stuff... let iPhone be happy to stay "being first" & the users of "iPhone" stay contended with a decade old specs (as the latest android phones would be too complicated for them to handle)

Ankit Dabas, 14 Aug 2015fool samsung smartphones are the best .see it has features... moreplease dont say what you dont know... samsung aint the best plssss.. u absolutely dont know anything about being the first. being first means you can show off and say u started the technology concept and it becoming an industry standard(i.e other phone manufacturers copying). samsung may have started concepts like air gestures and curved screens but it never became an industry standard, and u stand here talking crap about iphone. iphone started touchscreens and it became an industry standard(other phone manufacturers copying), they started torch id and it became an industry standard. so please before you come say crap please do your research. hate it when people dont know anything and start saying crap like you

Good lord! Those are crazy prices! That cost of bending the glass back must be a contributor to this obscene price! Talk about overcharging..! Without the memory expansion, no changeable battery and no more infrared remote. Not worth half the price for something that does less!

Ok, so the prices are a bit high. However, it's still better than the iphone 6+. Basically, they start at the same price but the Note5 has double the storage and is much better in literally every way possible. There is not a single category that ends in draw or win by the iPhone. it even has a .2 bigger screen and significally smaller dimensions. This is a humiliation for Apple, quality wise, even if people will buy the iPhone more.
From how I see it, this is the best screen on the market, the best camera(draw with LG G4) on the market, the fastest phone on the market, most features on the market, best fingerprint sensor on the market, best paying system on the market, there's literally no competition right now. As I said, the price is rather high, but you know you're getting the absolute best by far money can currently buy.

Arty, 13 Aug 2015The only way to beat Apple is to make better products to gi... moreOn the other hand, samsung two devices, with the best possible specs, at the time.
The general public dont care about removable batteries, or microSD card slots.

The problem is, that the CPU is several months old, and still the best.
The newer version with integrated modem, would not have changed performance significantly.

The storage they use is the fastest.

                      They have wireless charging.

The camera module, is about as good as it can get. With some tight competition from LG.

The screen is pretty much as good as it gets in this size.

They slimmed the device, in everyway they could.
However still keeping wireless charging, as that is probably one of the few features it will have over the iPhone.

They did their best in terms of hardware.
But I doubt it will be enough.

The only then remaining possibility would be in pricing. But that really isnt possible. Samsung cant sacrifise all their margins in trying to beat Apple at their home turf, Apple will be beating Samsung anyway, by beeing "American" (for tax reason, they are located in ireland, and their production is fully chineese).

Within next 6 months (when S7 gets launched), prices comes down by 30%.
Sammy should seriously have only one launch cycle per year combined for all Galaxy phones.

AnonD-78016, 13 Aug 2015No UK Launch :-/ Not happy..And here I was thinking about selling my Z3 Compact since the new moto g has IP X7 cert for $180, although with this devices they have a steep price but you might get some of what you pay for, at least more than with Apple, selling a dual core with HD display and 1gb of RAM for $650, dear lord. At least this phones are QHD and 8 core and 4gb of ram, so the price might be a little bit justified.

hm... so AT&T is the most expensive. Not cool. so far i am seeing that having the latest and greatest will cost you a lot. But just like with everything else depreciation will help consumers. In a few months i could just buy the regular galaxy S6 and switch from AT&T to H2O or similar for 30 bucks a month and save a s+++ load.

The fact ... moreThe only way to beat Apple is to make better products to give more features to your customers at the same or lower prices. With Note series Samsung was effectivly doing that, even Apple entered the race of the big screens with its Iphone 6+. But today Sammy ruined everything they have been doing all these years with a one presentation. We saw a clone of Iphone 6+ with the design of Mi Note 4. What a shame...

I think i know what samsung is trying to do here. The fact that they made it available in the US immediately after official launch is a manifestation of their market strategy to combat the highly anticipated introduction of the next generation of iphone- 6s. Of course, US shares a huge percentage of the overall market share in the world of smartphone, so it is a wise decision to attract costumers from the homeland of its greatest rival. BUT i dont think that the early launch of the Note 5 and S6 edge plus will make a huge favorable difference between its rival. Im not an apple user, i never liked ios to be honest but it terms of sales, i think the next iphone will sell light years far better than any other flagship this September.
Apple's strategy has been a success ever since its 1st smartphone flagship and i strongly believe that they will still reign for more generations to come, unless, other companies will figure out how to beat apple's way(strategy-wise, of course).
