If released, the only reason I am going to dump my Note 4 for this phone will be the physical QWERTY keyboard.

I just don't get it people with difficult of typing, so they have to use a qwertboard. Just try many smart qwerty app available. You will forget qwertyboard for good.

A twin OS, double-boot idea is a killer one for any ONE phone. The beefed-up cameras and the curved display add to the appeal, as well. So, the Venice looks like having the trappings of hitting the sweet spot. But still, the chassis appears plasticky. That knocks me down really I mean, why doesn't BlackBerry benchmark it's material with other bestsellers? Still can't understand. Even Huawei has solider better built phones.

Also, it has to remember as a BlackBerry, it still a class associated with it plus it's legendary email and security features. These make the OS10 mandatory on board the Venice.

A Rolls Royce has stayed as desirable, even among a crowd of mean machines crawling out of the manholes. We still have Porche aligned to BlackBerry - a reflection, BlackBerry can claw back to its lost exalted position in the comity of mobile phones. John Chen, are you listening? Get classier on the build as well.

AnonD-212727, 20 Aug 2015The Venice is like the Blackberry Torch, I dig it!! BUT!!! ... morePowerful in what sense? Specs (Android) and apps (iPhone) alone? Most people are conditioned by OEMs and paranoid YouTube "tech geeks" to go after specs and apps for their smartphones. The Android ecosystem is a power-hungry platform that's why it needs an updated hardware year after year and a constant OS and apps update even after just a recent release of any OEM flagships. iOS is just copying most of Android's past then call it "innovation". Check out the upcoming iOS 9 and judge it.
If you can understand how QNX works, then you'll understand how and why BB10 doesn't need the latest and greatest powerful hardware that most common people's "conditioned specs/apps mind" consider outdated. :-)

I think that this is a great move for Blackberry. Using just a touchscreen device has lost its charm. The screen itself can be very annoying; after writing an email and constantly hitting the "back" button because your finger has hit the wrong part of the touchscreen keyboard. BB has always had the keyboard going for it. I think this is a great way to integrate what the demand out there and still keep what they had going for them.

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2015It's proven that you can actually type faster on on-screen ... moreYou can spin it however you want, this is still better than a phone that will turn into a banana (iPhone) or a sealed doomed-to-die slab of equally frail glass (Samsung S6).

When analysts said we're at a crawl they mean it. Everyone panders to what the competition is doing rather than thinking out of the box.

He wants to create qwerty phone for the people during the physical keypad to touchscreen transition era back then. Turns out a lot of them still love using it. Especially older people with eyes problem. They couldn't really press those keyboard on a touchscreen without making typo. Physical keyboard will always stay for years to come.

So an Android variant for consumers, a BB OS10 version for enterprise. With Blackberry apps. If they bring the hub to this I will give it serious consideration.

Sliders need to make a comeback. I can't stand touch-screen keyboards, even on my current 5.2" device.

Miss my Xperia Pro and wish more companies would make them again, including landscape sliders, which look like they would be easier to hold than this.

Why would anyone go for yet another droid device (there are millions of them all over the place) just because it's from BlackBerry. I mean the only reason to buy a BlackBerry these days is its differentiating BB10 operating system.

John Chen is a complete idiot. The problem is not with Blackberry OS 10.x and phones with physical keyboards are not the answer (Hey John, if the world wanted physical QUERTY keyboards with Android, don't you think it would be a top seller at Samsung by now?), the problem is
                                1. No flagship phone with top of the line hardware specs - yea, BOS 10.x doesn't need it, but people like to impress their friends...look Buddy, 4GB RAM - Wow!
                                2. Terrible marketing. Too little and when they do they spend it foolishly (Formula 1 would be a good spend if they had the premium phone to market to the F1 crowd)

The Z30 was a very good phone, but the specs didn't impress. Come up with a successor to the Z30 with premium specs. Come up with a solid, inexpensive mid-level phone for the masses and put the proper marketing strategy in place and things can turn....but it won't. Chen thinks the future is with physical QUERTY form phones. Haha.

BB means business but android is the only show in town for a great deal of tools people need. If BB can find a away to lock down android for SYS admins and carry on making lovely hardware they provide for a good deal of the pro-sumer and business markets.

And why chase the low margin commodity end of the market at all?

The Venice is like the Blackberry Torch, I dig it!! BUT!!! I am wondering... how Android will work yet how would it still be Blackberry. I own a team of phones, with iPhone 5S leading the charge, the top three droids in my team being the GS6, HTC One M9, and LG G4, and also in my team are Blackberry Classic acting as second in command, Z30, Z10, and Q10. I can tell you. Apple and the Droids run very smooth with almost no lag. Blackberry is not laggy but it doesnt feel as powerful as iPhone or as Android but it does feel a bit outdated specially standing next to them. However Blackberry is just downright awesome to use for homework and messaging and can handle multimedia right! I am intrigued how this version of BB will be
