Speed test: Samsung Galaxy Note5 vs. OnePlus 2 vs. LG G4

21 August, 2015
Samsung is enjoying such a comfortable performance lead with its Exynos 7420 that it didn’t even overclock it for the Galaxy Note5, which is what they usually do for the Note. But how fast is it? Faster than the LG G4? Also faster than the much more affordable OnePlus 2? This video intends to find out.

AnonD-416259, 22 Aug 2015So the Flagship Killer-2016 finished last? Killer indeed... LOLOneplus 2 self-claimed 2016 flagship killer. Embarassing so much that they would stop the Oneplus brand immediately. LG and Samsung, either two are good. They are famous household item not for nothing. We need more innovation. We need more advanced technology. We don't need premium luxury material like glass or leather. Give us more practicallity and less bloatware. Cut down more features please. I could live with less. Your 32gb need to be 30gb user available not 16gb user available only.

The close all in the task swticher, and the RAM tab you find there, does little to free up ram.

There are way too many apps and services running on the background on any android device I've had (only one of them is a Samsung).

Not all samsung related services you would find in your device are unecessary, some of them are just samsungs version of apps and services you would find on any other android device. Other provide the additional functionality of touchwiz.
But yes there are also some apps and services that should not be running. One example in my K zoom is a weather app, although I'm not using any widget or services that uses information from that app. And it's one of those apps that you can't inactivate (or uninstall).

Some say linux works that way, load a lot of services in to the ram, to speed up startup times.

But I think there is just too much going on for a mobile device, where you like as little as possible to run in the background, to get maximum batterylife.

How I wish the G4 had finished first to justify my purchase, yet it was the Note 5. The Exynos 7420 is a real King.

I wish that GSMarena could provide their own feedback, related to this test. I know it's the blog part, but still.

Test if your samsung devices behaves like this. If it does so only when games are a part of the equation, or any other heaveweight application. or if it has the reloading issue no matter what...

I think that, that is an important additional part of information to this article.
If it does have that realoading issue no matter what, you can then actually state that is has poor memory management (or perhaps an power saving feature built in that has an impact on multitasking), if it however only happens when certain games, or heavyweight applications are open, it might be a sign that samsung actually has superior memory management, that is so smart that is senses if there is a change you will need every bit of resource you can get out of the device.

Ok, so I did a test with my K Zoom. Unfortunately I dont have any games installed, so I just opened a few applications, and started the camera.

Except for the camera, that retracts the zoom lens everytime you leave it and then ejects it when you get back to the app, no apps reloaded, webistes were kept, Earth was kept...

So this could be some kind of optimization feature, to ensure you that you will get maximum gaming performance, and since I have no games, I could not test that.
Or it could be a bug.
Or it's some new optimization they came up with.

Or there is some setting to make it behave like this, power savings or other setting, and the tester activated it, to make Samsung come off worse.

If it has to do with optimization, and it sensed that games were opened, well, then It's a good thing.
If it's about optimizing battery performance, then it's also a good thing.
If it's a setting, to save power, then it's a good thing.
If it is the general behaviour, no matter what kinds of apps you open, and it can't be proved to make any significant improvement on batterylife, well, then it's a bad thing, that I then hope Samsung fixes.

If it reloads in order to save battery, I'm all up for it.
The S6 had quite a bit better batterylife than the G4, and the Note 5 probably even better still.

But it does raise the question, for what will you use all that RAM?

If that is correct then it implies that all you wish to read on here is pro Samsung rhetoric??? In which case I refer you to Samungs own website.

Simple fact is not everyone who posts on here is going to be a Samsung fan (for different reasons im sure), yet they are as entitled to their opinion as you, its not necessarily 'trolling'.
