08 January, 2010
The LG GW990 was the star of the company keynote speech at CES this year. The full-touch device makes a brave attempt at resurrecting the MID class of devices by introducing specs well beyond...

Wow, Somehow EVERY YEAR LG finds a way to wow me, and they have done it again. I understand most of you have women hands that wouldn't rock this but i would trade my N97 in a heartbeat for this.

It you need two hands to hold it, like the guy in the picture does, it isn't a cell phone. This is getting reiculous. Do manufacturers believe we all use XXXXL pants with pockets to fit?

Do u remember how they were looking at the n70 a few year back?
They were saying it was a brick.
Look at the htc hd2 now.
                Its way bigger.
                Or the n900. HUGE.
So i guess we like huge :).

Cool phone but like most people on here said, Its just too big. The size is the first thing i noticed. And i am known to carry bricks around. that thing will not comfortably fit in any pocket. It'l be worth it if its as capable as the n900. If so, then the size can be neglected.

If you can call with it, it's a phone. So stop posting silly comments.

I agree it's way too big for you pocket though, and if you can't fit it in your pocket I'd rather prefer a bigger (8" for instance) Tablet.

In my opinion any device with a screen over 4.1 inches can't be named a phone. It's more of a tablet than a phone.

                            As Paris Hilton would say...

"O my God it's Huuuuge!!" And it realy is!

                              This is a concept phone.
more like a touchscreen netbook with mobile phone.

1 of the best phones ever shown (also nvidia had demoed a nice 1, with gr8 graphics thanks to tegra) unless lg decide to underclock the cpu a lot to get the better battery life they mentioned which wud be wasting the potential of an atom cpu. also i rly hope its not resistive, cos if it is, that will be the major weakness of the phone just like the n900. resistive is possibly the worst touchscreen technology used on mobile phones. here's y:
                                  - it requires cheap flexible plastic to work best (scratches easily and looks cheap)
                                  - it is not as responsive as others
                                  - no multitouch
                                  - it uses several layers of plastic which cause colors to fade and be less rich. this is especially noticeable under sunlight
                                  - on some, since the plastic is required to bend, the edges of the display r less responsive than the center
                                  - it doesnt follow sliding motions of ur fingers as well as other touchscreen tehcnologies

advantages of hving resistive over other touchscreen technologies:
                                  ???
yeah u might say it supports a stylus and u can touch it with ur nail or something if u wna be more precise on where u touch and u can use it with gloves. but there is a stylus which works on capacitive (look up pogo). forget this tho, phones shud use optical touchscreen, like the neonode phones (RIP neonode). optical touchscreen can be more responsive than capacitive, it supports multitouch, it allows u to touch it with anything (stylus, gloves, fingers...), it is cheap, it can also be used as an ambient light sensor, and it doesnt require anything to be added to the screen. most touchscreens need electric current passing thru the screen layers, but bcos optical doesnt, the screen only needs 1 layer which means manufacturers can build the best screen possible without worrying about making it into touchscreen.

OMG! I'm tired of people always complaining about less and more,I really agree its a big display but it still being a cellphone as you can make calls on it,like you or not!
The camera is normal for me,but my deception is that I heard the display is resistive,it will be only available in the second quarter and more specs at MWC in february (I hope so)!
