Here draws the line between cars and phones, phone makers hardly ever recall units as opposed to car makes that are able to massively effectuate a recall whether it's a design flaw, defect, mishandling during assembly, etc. So I say, recall and redesign or don't recall, carry on, and redesign along especially for the production of the next/future batches. If my memory serves me correctly, I think it was ASUS/Google who did some tweaking for their Nexus 7 (2013). For that particular year model, months later after their initial launch, they began producing/manufacturing (and eventually selling) a slightly improved hardware/external design of the same said model/device. Iirc, key changes made were the larger speaker grille and a more sturdy power button (or was it the volume buttons? - forgot) in contrast to the flimsy button(s) of the early batches produced. Else I may be wrong, and may have been an entirely different phone or brand I was describing. Anyone may freely correct

That is a real mistake that Samsung has done. As the Japanese says Poka Yoke is not done here. Samsung should look into the real life usage of the phones. Instead of just making such a high-end phone that attract the market but without enough review of its validation is a real failure and cost to the company. Surely one day someone mistakenly will spoil the S pen by inserting in the wrong way. Make a design review and come out with Samsung Galaxy Note 5s instead with better design of the S pen !!!

Well it was already produce and or in production at the factory, by the time they realize. NO time to rethink the design & production again. Egineers & Designer demands their fees to be paid.... so need to sell it fast to make money. Hence just change the printed manual attached. You want cheap samsung device then just read the manual. unless u want samsung to change the whole body & pen design, that would make note 5 more expensive. Just to cover expenses for the mistake. LOL....

Anonymous, 27 Aug 2015idiots!! i had every note and not once have ever done that!... moreIt won't be you... it'll be the idiot who'll borrow your Note.5 and puts in the S Pen the wrong way.

Any designer and engineer worth his salt should know that users are stupid and steps should be taken to foolproof the device as much as possible. Samsung didn't even try.

It's in the same class as an iPhone, alright. Real classy.

Yes, it's so impossible to put it in the wrong way, and get the S Pen jammed in the silo...

Only 2-year olds will get it the wrong way. Let's ignore this. It isn't a problem at all.

It's a great prank though... If your least favorite officemate isn't looking, insert the S Pen the wrong way. See him get furious. Spread this. Everyone try it!

It can happen that someone is in a hurry, and puts the S-Pen in the wrong way. It happens. Many times also when we're comfortable with how things are, we easily forget and take things for granted, so at times it could be some people will put the S-Pen in the wrong way.

Again this phone was created to be a fashion accessory and less of a practical device for people looking to get greater functionality out of their phone. They have not thought out this phone practically and to say that you need to read the f****** manual just show the lack of care.
