Qualcomm Smart Protect coming to Snapdragon 820, will vanquish malware

31 August, 2015
Android's Stagefright vulnerability was so serious it had phone makers pledging left and right that they will provide security updates for their handsets. Clearly mobile security is important and Qualcomm wants to enable it at the hardware level with Snapdragon 820 and the new feature called Smart Protect.

Will this proprietary application also constantly watch for abnormal *user* (phone owner) behavior?

Bah on CyanogenMod Stagefright, Certifigate and one other bug was fixed two weeks before it was even made public. That said, this organic programminjg really interests me as it fixes new problems as they arise, very clever :)

When talking about android's malware 'problem', the term 'overblown' can't stay out of my head for long.
The stagefright 'issue' was honestly as simple as disabling auto-retrieve of MMSes. *sigh*
But as always the sky was allegedly falling.

Actually. Stagefright was another over exaggerated issue. Yes it's big. But Android also has had other forms of built in protection.

Which phones makers are you referring to? Only Samsung, LG announced that they will provide security updates but ONLY to their flagship smartphone. No other phone makes are STILL not serious about Android security. And frankly speaking, only security in Android is a joke. Only Apple iPhone are the only smartphone that get regular update and are more secure than Android. And Android is so fragmented. Bye bye Android, if you care about security.
