I am still not sure if android can benefit from increased core count yet..

Nothing exciting about any of Acer's products, probably won't work either, can't beat my Sony Z Ultra and once March arrives we shall have the Z5 Ultra with 4k display, s820 chip and 4gb ram, sorry but can't beat that combination.

I have the flex 2. And from the specs I have seen and from the ifa unveiling. This predator 6 is a freaking beast of a phone. I don't care what carrier has it I am going to get it. I have sprint. I am under No contract. So where ever that phone is I am too.

You can't measure total actual performance just by flops

How is acer predator lineup a few months old?? Its been there for atleast 7yrs now.. Although arguably not very active

I bought last year's Acer tablet: The Iconia Tab 8 A1-840FHD. With an Intel CPU and slightly lower overall specs than the Predator 8, it's more than enough powerful device, and to me, incredibly awesome. It executes everything I throw at it with speed and fluidity without any bugs. And I had already owned the previous one (The Iconia Tab A1-810 7.9") wich I liked although the screen was a little bit dark and the tiny speaker isn't loud. The A1-840FHD improved everything wrong with the A1-810. Be careful though, some people reported that their tablet came DOA. I can't imagine how superb the Predator 8 must be.

Just buy a shield tablet and be done with it...

Cheap, fast & features that are no where else.

The recall only effected batteries and I know have 2 shield tablets so they can do that as many time as they want :)

I came from Snapdragon 800 + Adreno330 in Sony Z Ultra (which worked fine) to Mate 7 with Kirin925 + 628mp4... (I like them big as you can see haha) Sony didn't lag... I thought of Nexus 6. I doubt it can have any lag with 805@2,7ghz clock + Ad420 and stock android? I like what samsung is doing with Exinos, but I don't really like Touchwizz and they dont have 6" device with 7420. Kirin 930 and 935 have same lousy gpu as 925... Sony made 6" C5 Ultra with mid renge MTK cpu and gpu... Snappdragon 820 won't see light of day in any device for 5 or 6 more months. And I don't like Snapdragon 808 and 810. I have feeling that devices with Snapdragon 800-805 are much snappier and faster when switching apps and brawsing and in general ussage than those with 810... Maybe I'm crazy but it freaks me out totally... Lousy year for shopping smartphones if you ask me.

SD808 should be OK, but it is marginally better than SD805, so no much point to buy.
Lousy year to buy a smartphone as you said.
Next year looks very promising though, with TSMC and Samsung ramping up the 14nm/16nm processors.

That company is the main reason all the smartphone this year are terrible. All their latest Snapdragon chip couldn't perform well at all. I blame Qualcomm for the whole mobile tech industry. I woukd sue them if I were a big company with decreasing sales.

But I doubt it will lag, it is just more a question of having something future proof and not to have to downgrade quality of games that are GPU taxing (as I have to do in my Nexus 5 already).
I'm also shopping fora new phone! But I don't find anything I like right now, so I'll probably wait for the new set of upcoming SoCs: ExynosXXXX, Huawei Kirin 940/950 (don't buy anything less than those!), Mediatek X20/X30 or SD820.

I am using Huawei Ascend Mate 7 at the moment, and I am freaked out by gpu MaliT628mp4 and cpu kirin925 performance. It stutters and lags all the time while watching full HD videos and when scrolling web pages... I'm thinking about overclocking it. But then again I will replace it the moment I find powerfull 6" phone. I just didn't make enough research on Mate 7 GPU and CPU, and rushed into buying it... I am so not happy with it... It is beautiful device but stattering will kill me I swear. I can't make the same mistake again...

No I understan this now... In Exinos 7420 MaliT760 has total of 191gflops in 8 cores clocked at 772MHz, which means 1 core is 23,875gflops.

Mali T880 is expected to be 1.8x performance of T760, which would be 23.875x1.8= 42.975gflops per core for T880 if it was @772MHz same as T760, but it is not.

Mali T880in Helio X20 has only 4 cores of possible16 (thats tragic) so it would have total of 172gflops@772MHz which is still lower than T760 because it has 8 cores and when you reduce clock to 700MHz like MTK did in HelioX20 you get 172gflops x 0.906 you get 155.956gflops total. And I don't like it because I wanted my next phone to be Predator 6!!!!
