No, you won't be able to play graphical intense games as 4k.
But basic games will scale to that resolution, so will other apps.
You will get 4K mails, cause the text and the background will use the full resolution of the display.
And mobile browsers dont display sites at native resolution, it scales them to the resolution of the screen. So you will yet again get text and background in 4K resolution.
So you can take advantage of smaller pixels beeing used.
And there are 4K streaming, and 4k video clips on youtube.
There are also a lot of high resolution images around, that by far surpasses the 4K resolution of it's display.
So I really dont get what you are talking about.

The Sony Z5 Premium can't render any 4K content, besides 4k videos and 4k pictures. The entire Android interface, including screenshots you see on the phone and every app is only 1080p upscalled to 4k.
Therefore it's not a true 4K phone.

I don't know why many people complaint about the 4k display on Z5 premium, if you don't like it, just skip it. there are also z5 5.2" 1080p and z5 compact 720p to choose, in case you love the remained spec.

So... it looks like Sony where unable to make it an actual 4K display, and went with fancy layout to mask that this screen has only 2/3 of required RGB subpixels.
The individual subpixels are on a 1:2 grid instead of usual 1:3, meaning that it has 3840x2160x2 subpixels instead of expected 3840x2160x3.

They're not stupid to put a 4K screen on a phone that hardware can't handle it and if they want they first develop the hardware that match that resolution and give best performance. Sony just want to catch up and make some $ like Samsung and lg.

apple don't listen? but with iphone 4.7" and 5.5" what is it then?
and so on..there are features that Apple put it because the people/market ask for them
the last thing is the battery, and i think will fix that too next year

When 4K content is available, that is when we see the 4K screen in its full glory. On the other hand, 1080p isn't bad for daily use. Absolutely a wise move.

yes I support you big bro because Sony xperia z5 is even better than the next coming iPhone which would be called the iPhone 7. Apple never listens to its customers , the reason behind this is that Apple makes its customers pay more without giving them the necessary requirements they need .I really hates their poor battery life and instead of making massive improvement in the battery life performance Apple wouldn't but they would rather make a battery packs to get more money from us . This is an advice buy the best.........

weather the issue true or not still SONY released a 4k display they replace the NOKIA LUMIA 41MPXL now they are the #, but when nokia back i am sure they will make some noise again...
for now we have to support SONY Experia Z5 4K display is awesome

If Sony did have the display at 1080p for everything other than the content which required it (videos, photos and VR), then it's a very smart move
