Umbilical Noose, 10 Sep 2015There is a big difference here. This is not a Redmi(budget)... moreMi4C has the same plastic body as the mi4i and it could be that most other parts are the same as the mi4i (screen, camera, etc). Generally, parts are becoming more cheaper in the long term and the mi4i has already been released over a year. With that in mind and Xiaomi purchasing power, they can buy the parts for a relatively lower price.

Also, Snapdragon 808 has been released quite some time ago already. Maybe Snapdragon 620 smartphones are going to be released end this year (4x A53 cores and 4x A72 cores) and have a similar price in China compared to Mi4C.

But they can use Chinese brand parts to reduce the costs, such as screen and battery. For example, in the Note 2 Xiaomi also has used a Chinese domestic brand called Pegasus for the screen. The battery inside the Note 2 is also from a Chinese company.

How can they sell a handset with high end SoC for $200? If they pull this off then they are the best Chinese smartphone maker period

Anonymous, 10 Sep 2015Better and cheaper version of he new Nexus 5x?The have more or less the same specs but the xiaomi mi4c is most likely much cheaper. Expect a price of around 250 US dollar on resellers websites for the 2GB RAM version with 16GB ROM and around 280-290 US dolar on resellers websites for the 3GB RAM version with 32GB ROM

They should do away with the 16GB versions. It's just not practical anymore.

Anonymous, 10 Sep 2015what it means 'security feature'?There is no security feature. The Chinese source did not say anything about the infrared port to be used for security. It is most likely to be used to control electronics such as TV, airconditioning, etc.

It is the same source that said there will be only 100,000 units in total of the mi4c, but that is not true. More like 100,000 units in the first batch and after that more units will be on sale.
