Yeah, typical Apple comparing it adoption rate with android. Lame. Its like comparing a mother having to feed one child and another mother feeding 10 children. The only phone ios is used is on iphone so their attention is purely on iphones. Android have too many children(smartphone brands). It just not possible to give each of them the attention they deserves. 37% lollipop is better than nothing. At least Kitkat is on 38%. That means 75% of android user is on the 2 latest android version.

5 reasons why nobody should care about comparing Android and iOS for updates:
1 - iOS devices are premium price, so you can expect premium OS update speed
2 - iOS devices are too few in terms of model variety so you should expect fast updates
3 - Comparing one company to all others taken as a whole is stupid no matter how you look at it (dear GSM Area - "be responsible journalists" - please consider this, I will greatly appreciate it and I'm sure others will as well)
4 - Hardware can limit the possibilities for upgrade. How many iPhone 3GS are running iOS 9?
5 - Some people just don't care about updates and never will, especially when iOS removes stuff or adds bloatware and Android has weird battery drain
Enjoy being effed no matter which of the two you use.
BlackBerry and Windows Phone are effed enough as they are so we can leave them alone.

god to know that ios covers old devices under its umbrella. Its one company with all these products over the years, unlike android where there are so many companies producing devices based on buyers needs. But then its wonderful to see that all these small gadget-systems coexist in the same world, side-by-side.

I know nobody likes to think they have been wrong all this time but if something is clearly wrong why blindly defend it ? surely it would be better to admit it and hopefully apple will fix the problems if you keep defending them then they will never change .

On ipad mini it runs worse than IOS 8.x. It was so awful after upgrade that I had to do clean install and still is worse. Opera is freezing during operation, games are freezing temporarly during gameplay, Chrome is slower. Did not see any benefits yes, except some new wallpapers and a bit more organised notification panel. I don't reccomend the upgrade for older devices.

Eske Rahn, 18 Sep 2015No big surprise that many try to upgrade. I'm not the only... moreHow about your Stagefright bug which affects hundreds of millions of Android users and not to mention a new exploit that can bypass Lollipop lock screen? Is that fixed already? lol.

And why is it surprising? Most iphone users upgrade each year and a lot of them have the 6 so it is common that they will update when it's available
Android is not published all at once and each company has it own updates so you cannot compare.. you shouldn't be comparing Samsung with Google even if it was Android..

I find smaller devices are too tiny -- which is partially why I never got on the smartphone bandwagon until recently when these larger phones came out.

Anonymous, 18 Sep 2015In my observation while reading on the link provided it is ... moreThe ONLY reason for me to use an Iphone is that there are no other options that gives a one hand operable phone, with an at least HD (not even FHD) display with a hardware landscape QWERTY keyboard.
And believe me I've tried to find alternatives!

It looks great & runs smoothly on my 4s & Air 2, 20% in 3 days is great. If you can get the competition to update their 2011-2012 devices to Lollipop or even Marshmallow lol
