Anyone else think the pill shaped home button is the perfect size to fit the htc logo in? What are they thinking (still) wasting space just for that? I get they want their branding but without that there the device could be more compact as the top bezel would presumably shrink by the same amount as they seem to be going for symmetrical distribution and there appears to be plenty of blank space up top.
Don't get me wrong I'm not one of these who bemoan the existence of any bezel whatsoever, they are unavoidable and don't detract from the phone in my eye. However this stems from the M7 which eschewed the normal 3 button layout to fit their logo between the capacitive 'back' and 'home' areas, fine, I personally only really use those 2 but as htc have moved to on-screen they should re-evaluate frontal real-estate, especially as they seem to have binned the boom-sound - the A9 could have stellar screen:body ratio!

I am a htc fan, but this could be the end of the company. We have gone from magnificent m7 n powerful m8 to this crappy device A9. Boomsound speakers are missing. This design is WRONG. I am very unhappy.

who buy a mid-range specs for such a high price
Snapdragon 805 is an amazing chipset and still powerfull with no heating issues

HTC should move their logo to the top on that necessary bezel hosting the sensors and phone calling speaker like Samsung does. They also should use the Snapdragon 805, it was the most powerful and trouble free Soc from Qualcomm. I wonder why it is not used much, it's got a more powerful GPU than even SD808, maybe it's too expensive.
This phone could have looked nice if not for that big bottom bezel, which makes no sense now when it no longer host the Boom Sound stereo speakers. Those speakers were famous but with the "htc" logo on top made for devices with very poor screen to front surface ratio.

I'm now praying so that HTC can quickly go bankrupt. I mean, what the hell is wrong with them these days? They never learnt from the failure of M9.

I'm here laughing at the fact that they remove the boomsound speakers and the bezel is still just as huge as before lol

AnonD-133818, 24 Sep 2015after so many years, people complaining about HTC logo in t... moreThe "black bar" is not the same with previous handsets. Looks like HTC make them the same color with the front panel, or actualy part of the front panel itself. Here we see the "bar" black. In a previous leaked live picture we can see it white.
So the logo "bar" looks more like Samsung's logo "bar" just that Samsung put it above the screen.
But still, bad decision by HTC to utilize on screen buttons when they have that big scanner and space below the logo. Smh...
Btw, what's that phone reflected on the A9 screen??

AnonD-191847, 25 Sep 2015You're all completely missing the point, this is a midrange... moreWho said mid range market is ignored. The market is saturated with the likes of Motorola, Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Meizu, ZTE and more.

AnonD-191847, 25 Sep 2015You're all completely missing the point, this is a midrange... moreno. htc is copying iphone. and htc always sell midrange devices with premium price. htc will fail again.

You're all completely missing the point, this is a midrange phone with a fingerprint scanner, the first-of-its kind. HTC wants to revive themselves using the midrange market that's being ignored now-a-days by other companies. If priced right, this could easily be the best, by far, phone in the midrange category. Excellent move, HTC. Seems like they're back on the right track.
About the Apple design, they copied first, no doubt about it. HTC decided that instead of suing, they'd return the favor and thus inspired from the iPhone to snatch some customers. If Apple decides to sue, HTC will destroy them by counter-suing and banning the Iphone 6S from selling, so it's rather smart actually.

HTC just don't get it. A complete ripoff of Apple's ugly design. Don't tell me Apple copied HTC first.
Guess its own engineers & designers own a lot of short selling stocks and $1 is the stock price they like to see.
