HTC will unveil an Android Marshmallow smartphone on October 20

29 September, 2015
The smartphone in question is most likely the extensively leaked HTC One A9 with metal body and mid-range specs.

Unfortunately the A9 will be a mid level shovel at 144.6 x 689.7 x 7mm

AnonD-312515, 30 Sep 2015Shush be quiet or else you'll burst the Apple distortion bubble. Yeah how true.
As an outsider not having decided whether to buy an apple or a quality droid, it baffles with unbiasedly why people would pay in Australia 1.4k to 1.6 for a iphone with only medium specs. yet on many and very capable quality smart droids, if the prices hit several hundred then there is an almighty wrath of acid tongues go flapping. Its already tough economically in some circles to justify spending up to 100% more for the handset. Whilst I like the apple feel very much I must say I think ill wait for the HTC look alike in the new HTC A9 and Hero. It will be much less cost and better specs with same hand feel. win win. Just saying.

Strong advice is not to make the A9 more than a 4.7 screen or whole diemnsions more than 140.
At the end of the day I agree that 4.7 strikes a really good balance and practicality in so many ways. I have 4.3, 130mm max. I specially searched it with HTC out when at a the time Nokia took a sudden jolt left in design. The 4.3 has been great, yup, I would contemplate a 4.5 or max 4.7. as its a great compromise. Large shovels have there place sure but overall I suspect the upper mid range is where a lot will sit at. It wasn't so long ago we relished and loved the small Nokia when phones were just great phones and people were not so tied to them like they have to stroke them with affection. We were all a fairly happy bunch. So that said, while fads come and go, I reckon the 4.5 and 7s is a comfortable rest point.
      My 2 cents.

Another mid range phone to compete against the desire line. HTC must like shooting itself in the foot.

Nothing HTC makes interests me simply because they make 5" all the time, don't they realise that there are millions of people who want much larger devices, yes they do have some 5.5" mobiles as well but nothing compared to my gorgeous 6.4" Sony Z Ultra, so come on HTC wake up!

I am really looking forward to this super sexy look and feel handset. I have seen some black renders on other sites and looks great. It has 3 gig ram and thin. Just hope its not too big. I want to update my One S and I have been looking at an IPhone 6 which is gorgeous so here I get that but as an android and with better specs. Upper mid range. Yum.

gsmarena has absolutely taken this phone to the rafters.. by calling it "iPhone-esque" "iPhone like".. they may simply as well call it the HTC iPhone A9..
I feel bad for HTC.. :P

Funny how the article kept saying "iPhone look alike" and in iPhone article it doesn't say "HTC look alike" as the design of iPhone 6/6 plus/6S/6S plus was copied from HTC 2013 flagship device

HTC should make a normal device like HTC HD2(HTC HD3) or Desire HD 2.
