VocalIQ speech recognition startup is now part of the Apple family

03 October, 2015
Buying out a promising startup has always been a huge part of the tech world and a major catalyst for development. Big players, such as Apple know this better than anyone and don't shy away from absorbing prospective initiatives. It the latest such deal, Cupertino has now found itself in control of the U.K.-based start-up VocalIQ, which has been doing innovative work in the field of advanced speech recognition through machine learning.

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2015Um, no. That's not how patents work. Every time you post,... moreStop being silly. Patents are to stop copying, that's common sense. There is also no evidence that they are using Apple's patent. I already answered your query about Samsung, no reason to repeat myself since if you didn't get it the first time and don't even know what patents are, there is very little chance of you understanding.

By the way, I see you're still burying your head in the sand (among other places) instead of confronting the fact that Samsung does far worse.

Explicitly not allowing corning to answer whether or not they made the glass is simply trying to hide it, since everyone else uses corning gorrila glass and Apple can't afford to be compared with the competition. As it would ruin their brand if it happens too much.

That is no secret. Corning and Apple worked together to come up with it. This Glass is produced for and used exclusively by Apple. No other OEM will ever get the pleasure of using it. And that. Is the bottom line.

Apple has always been secretive with how they move, and rightly so, with all the leaks, and rival companies always poking their noses trying to save R&D by just copying.

I remember for example when the rumours of iPhones using glass started doing the rounds, and Samsung fanboys had a huge laugh insulting and making fun, right up to the point Samsung started using glass, then suddenly it was all great lol.

This trend continues till today. Now no more laughing at non-removal batteries, etc. Pathetic really. You guys do realise that these giants are companies and only hunt for profit. They just want your money, so enjoy the products, but don't waste your time fighting and throwing your love at them. They don't care.

All I was saying is that they try to falsely differentiate themselves from the competition when they're the same. Apple has a similar attitude to everything that they do. Apple sells a brand, so perception is far more important to them.

Now, I don't know whether the glass that iPhone 6S uses is exclusive to iPhone, made by corning, or whether Apple have an agreement with Corning to not use their brand on either side.

And don't be a fool: Corning and Apple had to come to a mutual agreement on this, it's not Apple forcing them. So if Corning agreed to it, then what's your problem?

In any case, it really doesn't matter as long as their statement is true that no other smartphones are using the material.

After college days I don't write much, there is a lot of typing on Computer & Phone and now with these Voice Assistance typing will be become less. I can imagine how people will start talking to their phones in all public places. Now, when we are with someone or group of people we use our phone to type stuff, later with Voice Assistance there will be little confusion among us whether we were talking to each other or with the phone :|

If you claim that all their patents came from the other companies they acquired then they should remove their R&D Department.

Regarding the ion glass, Apple filed a patent on how to strengthened the ion glass.
