HTC terms monthly security updates as 'unrealistic'

This is ridiculous. Microsoft releases security updates for (desktop) Windows weekly. Linux releases security updates as soon as they are available, so the could (and sometimes do) come daily--and Linux isn't even a for profit enterprise. Cyanogen puts security updates into their nightly ROM as soon as they are available. Many other ROMs that don't update nightly, nonetheless release an update immediatley if there is a serious security flaw.
There is just zero reason phone companies can't do better. Monthly is not unrealistic at all. It's the minimum. It's not even the minimum. It's lame.
The truth is companies (HTC is not alone) don't really care about security. There is some cost associated with doing updates more frequently, but there is very little cost associate with the consequences of security flaws (that falls entirely on the smartphone user). It's the same reason credit card security, especially in the U.S., is crappy even though chip and pin has existed elsewhere for decades. For banks, fraud is just an operating cost. If it's cheaper than updating their systems, then why bother.

Well, that's the case for me personally. I never liked my M8 that much, but I know a bunch of people love it.

Well monthly security updates are unrealistic and ridiculous. HTC only speaks the truth, Google, LG and Samsung will surely find alibi if they could not deliver.

if it's unrealistic how come apple can do it?, and how can a team like cyanogenmod do dailies for almost every phone made, this is just a cop out of having to support lower end devices, and actually keep track of updates, like come one the one M8 is still sitting at 5.0.1/2 for 9 months when 5.1.1 was said to be released 2 months ago, HTC keeps making their coffin, and digging their grave.

The audio on headphones was superb, but the 5"-screen was also too small for the body size. My Nexus 6 is only a bit bigger and has stereo speakers on front and a 6-inch screen.. Also didn't care much about the all aluminum body, it gave me small electric shocks during a cold winter. Not nice. Other than these things, it was a good phone for calls and messaging... Just wasn't for my taste.

in romania and in many country in Europe has received the lg g3 upgrade to Stagefreight passing them at 20 h-software from the android version 5.0 20T.

This is a US problem only. Phone carriers elsewhere has no power over OEMs especially Samsung. Big OEMs should have two update systems in place, one for US and one for everybody else on the planet. Though it's not going to happen, as every large OEM favor the US market as it's the most profitable one. So the rest of the world has to suffer unnecessary long waiting time for new updates, as we only get them after the americans(in my experience). I think Apple is a bit better than the rest of them with their updates, as they have TOTAL control over their devices and carrier have little to say if any at all.

Jeje, 05 Oct 2015Oh yeah and you people havent tried htc. I've had a few HTC's. Just sold my One M8 to buy a better phone and the first one was the Desire Z, which I actually really liked. M8 left a bad impression, not going to buy anything else than Nexus-devices from now on.

Well, then it's also unrealistic for customers to pick HTC over other brands that do manage to push monthly updates.

I have been using windows 7 since 2008, and it still receive security updates until today (7 years !). You will get the same if u choose windows.

But now I am confused who is more secure as of now Windows or Android.I am not interested in any Chinese phone
Can anyone help me on this ?
