Personally, I think it makes sense to have a built in stand ... goes well on your desk. Probably makes the whole device easier in the hand at the same time.

This is so 90´s.
This is what nokia and other manufacturers used to do.
HTC must have realized that the phone wouldn't hold entier day,
so this is their smart solution...HAHAHAHAHA!

Lucifer Gloria Alter, 07 Feb 2010The sexy look of HD2 is really gonna be hampered by the ali... moreWhere and how do u think the battery should go?
Do you happen to have some special blueprints for a small size battery? =)
The device it's already extremely thin, a more powerful battery means increased size, it's not always possible to accomplish capacity+thickness =)

It is bigger then it was in the first pictures. Just the fact that my jeans will hate the extended battery is enough. I really liked the double battery life. My battery is not a problem though, it is really awesome as it is. So no need for this atm.
But great that HTC made it at least, I am sure some people will need it.

At least HTC are thinking of a practical phone features. The other manufacturers seem to have forgotten that. I haven't used a Nokia or Samsung in recent years that lasts me half a day, and my iPhone is rather pathetic for battery as well. One day we will have better batteries and this sort of thing will be non existent, ridiculous looking things.

The sexy look of HD2 is really gonna be hampered by the alien battery. Now what next? Will htc release a mini generator for its mobile phones?or should we buy a transformer to run the phone directly from a high-tension line.Rubbish and ridiculous.

Looks almost like the projector add on for that LG phone...
well well, sure its to fat... but considering the batterytests that GSMarena performed, the standard battery isnt really as bad as it might sound. Thus this should be considered an add on for those who really really need a lot of battery power... sure they've could have put 1850 or something in there, but the device would still loose its slim profile, and this way you get a real powerhouse for demanding users.
Not so demanding user will probably be ok with the standard battery anyhow.
The readers in this forum tend to look a little too much on tech specs, and therefor think that youll get a lot less battery-times with the HD2 standard battery than some other smartphones... when in fact gsmarena already concluded that was not so.
