You can't make a car if you were just in software. It's not like making money transfers. If saying like him.

AnonD-430787, 09 Oct 2015Seems like he's very mad haha. Apple must get better staff ... moreI think he was just simply honest as usual, he's not one of those lying businessmen. But you may have a point there, Tesla has a "no a-holes" hiring policy and I can imagine Musk being disappointed in someone's attitude and telling him "You're an a-hole! You're fired! Go work for Apple instead, they hire people like you, not me..." etc. :-)

If Apple manage to pull it off they will claim to have invented the electric car.

AnonD-430787, 09 Oct 2015Reminds me of what Steve Balmer said about the original iPhone… And original iPhone, first one was actually really bad, its funny how Apple fans and other people forget stuff. It was big halo in tech world, but actual product and reception from users was really average and sometimes even bad.

And remember just becaudse something is popular(eg chrome) it doesnt mean its good.
First iPhone was popular on media because it was first, but actual reception was not. After they fix some stuff on 3G version its finally take real place on top. before that it was 100% Apple marketing to make people write about it and show it.

AnonD-430787, 09 Oct 2015Reminds me of what Steve Balmer said about the original iPhone… Balmer was a buffoon. I say the exact opposite, Jobs was taking ideas out of obscurity (the Buffoon Balmer couldn't see how) while Cook doesn't (apple watch failed).

Basically every new Apple idea since jobs death that was successful was derivative from other successful ideas. Jobs would not do that, he would be successful using obscure ideas (like trully bezeless phone, or sth equally insane).

My point is that Apple would succeed in this *only* if electronic cars become a success first. Steve Jobs could pull it (create success out of discarded ideas) Tim Cook simply can't. So yeah they'll probably fail. If Jobs was alive (like when Balmer made the comment) I would had said the opposite (as I was in fact).

Even in Jobs Era, their business was taking something (relatively) obscure (like a smartphone) or a failed idea (say tablets, ultramobiles) and making a goldmine out of it.

So innovation was out anyway, taking concepts out of obscurity doesn't seem to be a priority either anymore. All Cook's Apple do is ... making the profits fatter by refining their best selling ideas. It's a good business model on the short term, but it probably leaves them exposed for the longer term (the next cash cow *won't * be an Apple, simply because Cook doesn't do the "reinvention" thing well).
