Apple has showed you don't need the highest numbered spec. Just make a device that has a cohesive use case scenario and sell that. There are plenty of companies exiting the business because all they have is a few mhz bump.
808... is ok and will work fine. Hell an Galaxy S3 works just fine today. Nobody with LG G4 is complaining. If the reviews on Motorola G are saying it puts out an acceptable performance on its slightly lower clock and ram, this will deliver a better experience overall. You avoid all the heating issues, get front facing speakers on a high quality display with a 3400mah battery. And to top it all off - THE HUB. IF you don't know what this is then you haven't experienced a modern communication device. So there is a lot of value outside of specs to this device. There is one area I'm waiting to see/hear about which would clinch it for me.

But getting updates is not everything. The main criteria is how much it makes your work easier...
I am not a fan of BB as a matter of Q10 is my first BB device. Still, I am yet to see ANY application more useful than BlackBerry Hub - and by the video BB is posting, it seems Priv will have Hub....
And will be priced sensibly (that I seriously doubt though... :/ )
Just hope it will have intergration with Skype/ Line/ Hike etc... properly...

This is a gambling for Blackberry to use the Android OS, but i hope the best for Blackberry, because for work i am always using Blackberry phone for it's security. The downside of Blackberry for years is that they lost in terms of the applications from iOS and Android OS.
If in this gambling Blackberry can combine their strengths in security and the strengths of Android OS for their applications, perhaps they will survive or might be successful. But if Blackberry only use the android OS just to increase their sales without being able to combine their strengths in this case security in androis OS, then they are just the same as other brands like Samsung who use the android OS. If in this case it's happens, then i think Blackberry will be immersed in their problems over the years, because it has too many rivals if only rely on Android OS just to increase sales and Blackberry lagging to far. So i hope for the best for Blackberry, hope they can combine android weakness in security, if they can, i will replace my Blackberry Q10 to Blackberry Priv...
Come on Blackberry..... Come on Mr.Chen..... i'll be waiting to see your next move..... Hope you can survive from your problems Blackberry.....

Just because your circle of friends prefer touchscreen keyboards, doesn't mean the rest of the world does. And if you've noticed (but probably not), you don't really know how to spell or know what word to use. Maybe you should review what you type so you don't look slightly uneducated. By the way, using a physical keyboard does, in some respect, help in spelling. Of course that could just be hearsay.

I agree . Over priced. I love the concept but most mind blowing ideas in cars. They should just be a concept. The specs are to bad. And the fact that it will be running Android Mellow will be nice. But the keyboard is a thing of the last. Remember the storm? Or thunder? A full touch screen. BB tried. But got discoursed. People now aren't dumb. Everyone wants a phone that can go blow for blow with the best. And if BB wanted to do it big for the last time then they should have got rid of the keyboard. A lower price and top specs. If your going out then your rite go out with a bang. This is like a ( Ehh ) phone. If I see it on a table I'll ask i"Is that priv?" But that's about it. Wouldn't wanna make me rush to the store and buy it

Do you think they need more than 1-2 GB of RAM? Ofc they don't because optimization is fine tuned, i'll bet you that the next "flagships" with 4 GB of RAM will lag, you want to know why? Bad optimization, you can have 6 GB of RAM in a samsung phone, lg or any other android out there, they will still lag, not all the time, but from time to time they will, I have yet to see my 930 lag, ever.

Overhyped, 15 Oct 2015This shall yet be another experiment which should have been... moreAnd they're making the same mistake with this phone as they did with the Z10 and Z30. Overpriced for the specifications of the phone. People will compare it to other phones with similar specs/features for the price and take a pass. The people who will buy it are either looking for physical QWERTY or have been waiting for a BB phone with Android. Sorry Chen, but that's a very small niche market.
Blackberry has made some really nice phones with BOS 10.x, but the problem is they've all been overpriced (possible exception is the Z3) for the hardware combination. None of the phones have had one hardware component which stood out from the crowd of flagship smartphones on the market. I think BOS 10.x is a great OS, but people don't buy a phone for the OS alone. Why can't Chen figure this out? The mainstream market decided about 5 years ago that they wanted touch screens without physical QUERTY. Samsung and several other manufacturers had models with QWERTY and if the market wanted them, they'd be dominating today.
If BB is going to charge premium price, they better have a few things premium in the phone. Why not build a true successor to the Z30 with specs that kicksbutt. Not because BOS needs it, but because you're offering the latest tech for the price. A Snapdragon 820, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal, water/dustproof and a fantastic camera sensor/software combination with a workhorse battery would do the trick in my opinion. Give one model Android and the other BOS 10.x and let the market decide the winner.
If it fails, it fails. But at least the mobile division would go out with a bang and not a whimper.

Can't hardly wait to see the actual specs. (and of course signed up for news)
It seems like the first serious attempt for a QWERTY slider since Sony-Ericsson's Xperia Pro al the way back in 2011(!). As I have posted in many threads, the least bad option available today is (cheap) QWERTY landscape slider cases for the Ip5 or Ip6. And I would just LOVE to get rid of the horrible Ios experience (and the embarrassing fact of being an Iphone user).
...Now had it only been a landscape slider... I fear that the keys will be too tiny when in portrait.
But of course many coders are incompetent or lazy, and only implement Portrait versions of their apps UI (and this goes for large parts of basic Android and Ios as well). That might be why BB goes for the Portrait slider?

Firstly I was THE BIGGEST BB fan,,, a few years ago when they were still relevant. Today they are not. It is no secret that they are failing miserably. And that there market share is anorexic. They get great support from governments, but thats about it. Hence the 10 remaining BB loyalists... lol
