Intel's 'PC does what?' campaign goes live

16 October, 2015
Who'd have thought you'd see some of the top PC OEMs come together and promote the PC as a brand. But then, with falling sales and interest in the once popular personal computer space, companies are now tripping over each other to try and revive the segment again.

It's so ironic. After releasing the same processor for 5 years in a row allowing for ARM to close the gap , Intel now tries to convince us that PCs are worth the while.

BTW who games on a laptop (freakin casuals) and hybrids are terrible tablets, way too heavy and thick ... and no touch optimized apps.

I have been telling people about this website since 2003. But it is no secret that no matter the subject you guys are always throwing apple in there. I own Apple products. But I would like some reviews or news with out the mention of Apple.

It's very scary that you actually have to promote PC as a thing these days. Especially more scary that you do that by promoting mediocre, overpriced devices that noone but a few can relate to. That is not a good thing at all.

For god's sake!! treat all your devices as a tool! you should see it that way. Also, the line between a "PC" and a tablet/cellphone is now becoming thin. Your Iphone, Ipad, Galaxy, One, G4, Z3 etc. are all Personal Devices!! they are PC's!!!!!!

If you ONLY look at this (the appearance), then yes ... PC is playing catch-up. But one thing that you should never forget, while the form factor does playing catch-up, the processing power is way ahead of those tablets. Heck, I can even debugging my mobile apps (Android and Windows apps) and my web apps (php, nodeJS, .NET MVC) using Bay Trail powered tablet (without simulator/emulator though, which is understandable). I can't do it on Android based tablets.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about "the struggling PC market". To me, it's just a bunch of corporations whining about falling profits. Deal with it.

I will switch completely to android tablet and throw away my pc, if Android can do these things natively (without hacking or rooting):
                      1. Run Eclipse or Netbeans IDE and all of its plugins
                      2. Run Virtual Box to virtualize windows/linux os

Just a thought for you tablet/smartphone users:

Your gadgets with their hardware and software are being designed using PC's by people who actually have talent and IQ. Now just sit there and enjoy your petty devices and stop insulting the very thing that made all this possible...

Almost all of those things are tablet-copying functions. Battery life & gaming performance aside, all the rest are just "me-too" things - thin, bendable, re-orientable, thin bezel.. not saying these are specifically tablet-things either but this sounds very catch-up and not "I'm special" at alllll.

You see why I say this world is coming to an end for the dumb people? Now there's a campaign, so that people could know what PC does? I mean, come on, you kidding me or what? What's the next campaign? Drinking milk causes cancer?

                            Unbelievable!

A PC does what nothing else can, your tablet, your smartphone, or whatever you have. There'll be a lot if people who will say, no need for a PC, but the only reason for that is you can't afford it, so go away and come back when you have a job/ life.

I am a gamer, so this is practically pointless for me, I'm sure the Video Editors, Encoders, Photographers and many more will agree with me.

The PC won't ever be able to pick up the market like it used to have. I am a PC gamer but quite a lot in the past only ever used a PC for Internet browsing and messenger... This can now be done on tablets and phones that can be used anywhere so the 'need' for a PC has dramatically declined. The big thing is that a PC can do everything faster and you get more real-estate to work with which is just nicer. I will remain loyal to the PC but that is because I am a gamer, although I don't boot it up just for a quick Google.
