Anonymous, 19 Oct 2015And that's why Apple is a more serious company. Not one of ... moreAndroid OEMS give 2 updates, iphones get 4. But the 4th and even the 3rd are a lot worse in terms of performance usually. Many will tell you their phone was fastest on ios7. The only benefit is security.
But support is stopped due to time not performance. And if you really care then just install a custom ROM, courtesy of open source android.

And that's why Apple is a more serious company. Not one of those companies is going to support any 2013 device (GPE versions excluded, as they are a special case), all the while Apple unapologetically supports devices from 2011.
Apple gets that her phones/tablets are legitimate computers thus are meant to be used for many years, the other OEMs simply carried over the bad habits of the dumb phones over the smartphones ("pffft it's just a phooone!" .... no it's much more than that, it's my personal assistant, my computer on the go and my productivity is heavily depended on it don't *force me* to throw it away even though it's still perfectly usable *and* I've grown accustomed to its ergonomics).
Nobody throws away his computer every 2 years, we don't have to be forced to do so with out phones just because the OEM refuses to merge the newest security updates turning my phone into a liability. Apple gets it, the others are dumb phones makers who where sort of forced into the smartphone Era, but kept their old mentality.
And yeah I understand it's not feasible to support dozen upon dozen of phones. At least support your flagships. Tell me one pure hardware thing that S5 is better than Note 3. In fact it's worse as it only has 2GB ram. It should not get marshmallow, Note 3 should...

I find it hard to believe how no 2013 devices have been confirmed so far, maybe they will later on. Then you will see 2015/16 budget phones that have the latest android version, where as a 2013 flagship for some reason won't even though it would still have better specs.

regs, 18 Oct 2015Asus seems to keep its 1-year major update only policy. This is quite sad and ASUS has abandoned all 2014 devices and still stuck on multiple issues found in Lollipop update.
