Anonymous, 18 Oct 2015fyi, nothing will be erased by flashing and OTA zip update.After updating device will become laggy and unusable..and the only option will be factory resetting it.. thus erasing data.. so he is some what right..

Sony has the longest list.
Samsung updates very very few devices while producing hundreds of them.
HTC Desire series is abandoned. And where is Butterfly series...?
LG doesn't care about its mid rangers.
Motorola gives only 1 year update (leaving 2013 generation in the cold).
One Plus has only two devices to worry about.
Nonetheless, more devices will get confirmed later.

For you sir I suggest buying a Windows or at the very least Apple, so you can get updates all day long.

Don't put any hopes on samsung device list they promise things but they will break it same thing they did with the GALAXY E7 they promised that they will update it to lollipop but now they r saying that they will not

Only iPhone will get software update even the phone is more than 4 years old such as iPhone 4S.
HTC should feel ashame even a high end phones like One Max did not get update for Android 6.

Huawei got the nerve to announce the 6.0 update for the Mate 7 while they havent delivered the Android 5.0 update for the device. They're definitely joking !

Sony has really improved their game when it comes to upgrades!..their old phone slike original Z,ZL,ZR,Z1,z1c,Z ultra are running 5.1.1 which was the latest android version before release of 6.0 and now they are offering 6.0 to all devices from 2014 even the cheap m4 aqua is also in the list!
