A fully loaded Microsoft Surface Book comes with a massive $3,199 price tag

When using the surface book in tablet mode, is there a case or cover that can be on while using the tablet? I realize I would have to take the cover off to attach the tablet to the keyboard, but I would like some protection when using just the screen.

My Asus machine is the best I've had and I've had a few laptops from other brands. Premium Asus ones are the best. Actually my wife has a cheap Asus one and it has no issues (only a few windows 10 bugs that weren't there with windows 8.1).
Countless people have Windows 7 and run it flawlessly as it is the most stable OS. Yours is an isolated problem and probably not with W7 but with the Asus drivers.
The bottleneck is the hard drive.
I use an SSD so my build is super fast and instant.
If you had slowdowns, blame all hard drives and go for an SSD. No hard drive is good enough, not even 7200 and 10,000 RPM ones.

It was an ABSOLUTE nightmare.
i5 dual-core 2.6GHz and nVidia with 1GB onboard RAM, but the machine stuttered and crashed all the time. That's when I gave up. I had reformatted the laptop a number of times and it never improved, so I got a Mac and have never looked back.
Macbooks also aren't perfect, but for the most part their performance outshines that of the everyday MS laptop by miles.

Also, the GB before a GPU indicates the graphics memory size (GDDR). You can't talk about a graphics card here, because there is no card in the machine, the GPU is soldered to the motherboard.

Having separate volume buttons for me is a must also, so that my F keys can be as they should "f1, f2, etc." and not play, pause, etc.. lol.
I just wish my laptop was a 17 in. one, but I have an external 23in. monitor so I'm fine for now.

A "Workhorse" to me it's a decent sized ultra portable device with powerful enough cpu/gpu for an IT person (myself) and storage capability + battery life to do any work without compromises(spinning up a few VMs and do any sort of testing/query). Also can be used as a tablet for taking notes when needed. ( PS there is no such a thing as 1GB Graphics processor ;) )

It is not specified yet and I really hope I'm wrong but seem it will come with ULV processors (which, I don't have to explain that they are not even close to desktop CPUs) and the 1 GB Graphics processor is just underwhelming at this price range. You will not render or game with this "beast", that's for sure.

whew! perhaps "this will take you to where you've never been before" and also the price of the device seperates itself from the mass and the mainstream considering it claimed "loaded" am intrigue to what or how this "loaded" device can bring/show that can justify the amount of money you'd pay for....interesting to learn!

I use it daily as I only use Windows but even though MS has been fixing issues, it still gives me a blue screen every few days if I don't restart. No warning, I could be browsing in a browser, or right clicking desktop with my files open, and crash, it blue screens and restarts on its own.
I had another huge bug that is affecting lots of laptops but I fixed it. Driver problem because of Intel. I would put my laptop to sleep, upon waking it up the screen remains black, you can hear that it works but it's black, nothing you do works so you're forced to restart it by holding power button. I solved it by downloading and installing an older version of Intel Management Engine Interface.
Another bug my wife is getting is that after a day of using, her start menu button no longer works, you click and nothing happens, so you can't access the start menu, the Windows 10 apps stop working also, things stop opening, so you have to force a restart.
My mother has it on an old laptop she has, and hers froze the other day so we had to restart. She didn't have issues with windows 7.
Windows 10 has so much potential, I love the store and apps and such but it has bugs that are annoying.

Keyboard is excellent! I really like typing on this. Very solid.
I come from using ThinkPads with their legendary keyboards but this one is as comfortable. My fingers find the correct keys when typing easily.
The only thing I would have liked better is to have the separation between arrow keys and the numpad section (check photos for that). Asus' gaming laptops, ROG series, have that separation. It's not a huge deal as this laptop has so much to offer.
