Anonymous, 23 Oct 2015I agree with you. I thought to buy my first smartphone and ... moreWeird cos my friend had an Xperia, bad battery drain and heat then went to iPhone and didn't like it and got S5 and he said it was the best of them all. Everyone seem to say good thing about their phone but bad about others, is it just to justify spending their money lol.

The only marketing sony's phones ever get is the small cameo, everytime a bond movie gets released. They can't win this one. I'd say will close shop after the Z6.

i loved sony's phones for years but here in indonesia, sony denies handling their own responsibility for after sales and service and pointed it to third party called TAM. The service centre is sucks. Took 4 months for my xperia z for replacing charger connector pin (figure it out) and i also had to pay for new battery which i never faced any problem!!! I really hate this main service centre of TAM located at ITC RoxyMas, Jakarta. One day when sony close their business these people in that service centre would be an unemployment or a homeless, i wish

Sony only focus on 5.2", why ? 5.5" , 5.7" or 6" can't have high spec? & the price too high & battery is too small compare to Lenovo & Huawei.

Awesome! Sony's good at battery life and waterproofing. Software is simple on top of google. Only oem who does compact smartphone with highend spec.

This is a 'dammed if you do, dammed if you don't' situation for Sony. And reason I say this is because, yes, Sony marketing strategy is faulty. They're everywhere & nowhere at the same time, with little to no brand recognition in some countries.

So with that being said, let's say Sony goes on a worldwide advertising crusade. Just to receive similar or equal brand recognition as LG for example, will cost them billions. Which could break them. Basically putting them in the exact situation they're in now. In the red, with great marketing, but sub par devices. Sony is just doing it the opposite way right now, with choosing to focus on premium devices & sub par marketing. Because the reality is, at this point, they cannot do both. Sony arrived to the party late & everyone is already drunk off of Apple, Samsung, etc's booze.

My point is, only way Sony is going to get back into this, is gradually, as they always have. If you try to force yourself back into the game, you can break yourself in the process. As HTC is proving now. It's similar to formula one racing. Whatever ground you lose, you gotta take just as much time to make it up. Push it? Brick wall, curtains. So believe it or not, if Sony can whether the storm for now. Their patience will pay off in the long run. Leaving them in prime position when opportunity strikes to pull ahead. Which makes staying the course the main objective, regardless of how bleak it may appear now.

In my view, Sony's main draw back is very high price at the time of launch with very less marketing. Specially in my country, i have hardly seen any Sony advertisements where as i see Samsung banners and boards all over the town.
Pricing, at the beginning price is set well above and within 3-6 months price will be half of the launch price for sure. I bought Z3c few months back. During the time of launch, it costed 20% more than the price of Galaxy S5. I bought it around 6 months after launch. That time it costed me 10% less than the price of Galaxy S5.
Further, both of the devices use the same chipset and processor (Snapdragon 801) and there are no much differences in other specs. Therefore there is no justification for comparable high price at launch and comparable low price after few months.
I would say, Samsung's prices are stable because of very good marketing and prices are not set so high at the beginning (When comparing it with the smartphones of similar chipsets).
I am a Sony fan and Hope Sony would consider this fact in future. :)

                                    "We have no intention to"
"How about now, gonna sell it now?"
                                    "No"
