Day after day we'll understand that technology is going backward instead of forward. Benchmark madness brought all of this.advertising with numbers, cores,RAM is nothing but a foolishness. We are a lost cause

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2015Why is Samsung even bothering with Snapdragon? They apparen... moreWhat I don't understand is why hasn't somebody asked Apple to buy some of their SoC's?
If these are so spiffy what's keeping Apple from selling them to other interested parties as well, and what's keeping non-Apple handset-manufacturers from at least asking Apple for it.
What about Intel?
I also wonder. Isn't some o/t overheating caused by making these goddamn devices TOO thin? Screens with too high resolution and miniature camera's with too high of a resolution?
Do we really need 4K-videorecording? A phone can NEVER resolve the true FHD detail of a dedicated camera let alone 4K. Definitely not with those crappy plastic lenses that these bozo's use. Do we really need QHD screens? Don't you rather have more frames per second in FHD in that game? And does that 0.1mm extra thickness really matter?
I have the feeling that from 2015 on manufacturers are competing with ridiculous details that don't really add or improve customer experience. On the contrary.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2015Overheating is not the greatest problem, throttling is. One... more"...Overheating is not the greatest problem, throttling is..."
Indeed, but throttling is prerequisite to overheating. So solve the overheating and there's no (or less) need for throttling.
What I don't understand is this: ALL the tech-savvy people KNOW that SD810 are a no-go and therefore they should stay away from buying a 2015-flagship. I expected that the tech-savvy also informed their lesser peers to stay away from them. Yet there's still several millions of phones being bought this year with a "manufactured defect"?
Are there so many stupid people in the world?

If you'd said: I'll stick to a galaxy S5 or Z1 or any other SD801-device then I'd understand. But what you wrote is nonsense. You don't want that SD820 because of probably overheating yet you'll go for a device that definitely has overheating issues. DoH!

Vic, 29 Oct 2015Snapdragon 820 will be exciting chipset. It has nothing in ... moreOverheating is not the greatest problem, throttling is. One plus two fixed overheating by throttling the cpu to oblivion with as a result actually being slower than their last phone after a minute or two of continuous usage.
I mean think about it. Buying the new phone of a company , paying more of it, actually finding that it has regressed performance wise. No matter how you look at it SD810 was a big fat failure and I regard all SD810 phones as mid rangers in high end phone.
The only high end SoCs this year was exynos 7420 and Apple A9, both closed source architectures. It's so sad actually that most of 2015's android phones are not better than 2014's, all because everybody buys Qualcomm and Qualcomm f***ed up.
SD615 overheats too, and as a result provides low end performance after throttling sets in. 2015 was a shameful year for Qualcomm. If they were not a monopoly they would have closed shop by now.

Snapdragon 820 will be exciting chipset. It has nothing in common with S 810 because latter was created in rush because some stupid phone makers wanted 64 bit chipset as soon as possible. So, they got one... S820 is comletely different story. But to be honest rumors about S810 overheating are mostrly BS. Some may point to reviews indicating that S810 overheats, but there are even more reviews and test clearly proving that S810 doesn't heat more than other chipsets currently available on market.

But in case of s820 they are using custom designed kyro cores which is said to deliver elegant performance with less heat and efficiency. Well we should wait and watch that it can keep up its word
