And one more think ... this means buying any WinMo 6.5 based handset presently might not be a very good.
My advise look elsewhere ... Android handset has good record for software upgrades, or maybe Symbian based or even palm, and why not apple iphone.
NOT WinMO based handset
(I hate when consumers has to suffer because a company, the likes of microsoft seem not to know whether it's coming or going

If my current Hardware is good enough for the Windows phone 7 series update why should go and buy a new hardware.
Consumerism for even less reason?

If Microsoft will resort to such silliness ... then I suppose I will be looking at Android based handsets for my next phone

actually, im quite happy about this decision. windows 7 doesnt look anywhere near as nice to look at as 6.5 and u would have to go the rigmarole of getting ur apps on it, and making sure all your videos work, or having to download new video players. Personally i think alot of people here just bemoan everything as its something to do.

Win Phone 7 is just another try of MS to control the endusers. (Apps should be installable only from official Marketplace, and deactivation of the App on MS Marketplace will lead to deactivation of installed software as licence expires... Or have I missed any important change for good?)
under these circumstances I'm quite happy that this crap won't come on my HD2 :-)

rafe, 02 Mar 2010Not quite true.
My HTC Hero (android based phone) will get... morelook at HD and HD2;
both are considered high end phones;
both doesnt have upgradeability by htc.. (cross ur fingers hd2 may have one if htc chooses to allow it)
Guess its all commercial decision to allow upgrade or not.
First by HTC and then by MS; else why would HTC not allow HD1 to have 6.5 upgrade? cos they want u to buy HD2...

I really don't see what the fuss is, by the time Windows Phone 7 comes out, there will be phones or mini computers who'll take the mantle and far surpass the specs of the HD2 which by then, let's face it, will be obsolete. Especially with the ruored HTC HD3 successor with an even bigger screen and rumored 1.5ghz processor. This is not just talk, we're talking about smartphones which unlike a building proposal for a 1km building in a big city, is very likely to happen in the world of tech
